Interview fail

Well the past week I have been revising topics for an interview for an overseas position with a very large software company, one of the top 3 if you had to pick names.

This company is also notorious for being VERY challenging with the choice of questions they ask interviewees, from the highly technical to the esoteric.

So I have spent the past few days being busy and learning a wide range of topics from algorithms and computational time measurement metrics to data sets, tree/graph traversal and discrete mathematics to logical puzzles and processes/threads.

Got myself all set up for the interview tonight, ready to go then re-checked the email.

It's next monday not today

On the plus side at least it wasnt me getting ready next week to find out it was this week!

Fail of the year so far?

Oh well, never a bad thing to be prepared in advance.

You shouldn't get the job on the simple fact you cant read properly ;)

If I was getting ready for it next week and it was today I'd say possibly.

It's in my top 10 currently, along with printing an assignment at home then going in to uni to submit an assignment (as it takes a long time to get a machine that can access a printer) only to have left the assignment at home

I can read properly.... I just chose to read the wrong date on the email, there were 2..... ;) I think it started from entering the calendar event into my phone wrong and just having my mind on other things like personal projects, dissertation etc

They hire a team of psyco analyst people to brainwash you with confusing emails. Well done you've passed the first test and should get there on the right date!

I did that once, although at least you didn't make the misstake that I did. I turned up to the interview a week too early !!

At least it showed I wanted the job.

At least you weren't this guy...(I think it was a guy anyway!)

I would like to put myself forward for biggest fail at an interview... sitting in front of HR, and two managers and being asked what I know about the company (Vauxhall)...only to respond (mouth in gear, brain not) that the department i was looking at working for (managers were head of) lost £68 million last year last due to some poor decision making. I then realised what I had just said to them (and the fact that 2 of them ran that department), blurted out an apology which they found rather funny, before they repeated the question except adding ''that doesn't classify us as inept at the end of it'' :embarrassed:

I got through that round but got knocked out two rounds later. :)

Oh, that's a classic. Wonderful, Andehh. :D

With that job application, even if they meant the plural they still missed an apostrophe ;)

Umm, Rich who?

My friends brother was finishing an interview and on his way out opened the cupboard door thinking it was the exit...........pretty bad interview fail in my opinion.
