Napkin maths for problem 2 implies that you'd move at an angle approx two/thirds between top raptor and a corner raptor (since corner raptors are 2.5 times as fast as top raptor)

Well, it got my attention more than the one about driving from Ecclesthorpe to Swindon did.
For number 2, I think you have to assume that the raptors are smart enough to anticipate where you are going, and will head to intercept, rather than run toward you and then adjust course to follow, even though the latter case is more likely.

I think what Brucelles said is absolutely spot on. If the raptors were intelligent enough to come up with a straight, mathematically optimal path to intercept the little man, the problem would be doable - the position vectors are easy enough.
But if they just ran at him and adjusted their heading as he ran they would follow a curved path, much harder to model. I believe someone managed to do it using computer algorithms, but I can't remember the link.
