It looks like the clouds coming back this way..

I dread to think how those stranded would feel when this news spreads and it does start to affect the forthcoming planned flights for tomorrow.

Oh dear Jay, sorry mate it\'s not looking good, but got my fingers crossed for ya!
As all this stuff is supposed to be around 20k odd up, why can\'t they use a lower level until it clears???
Well I\'ve just seen BA advertising £49 flights to Europe.. Pointless ad of the year?
They called me mad for investing in zeppelins, but who\'s laughing now?
I meant to be flying to Ireland on friday morning, for a stag do. The best man is stuck in Las Vegas. Though he\'s hoping to get a plane to hamburg then back via train.
jet engines are desighned to work as high up as possible where the air is least dense. So there is less air resistance to the plane. if they simply flew lower, not only they would use more fuel, on some off the routes they simply wont have enough fuel.
thats what killed the concorde. It very efficient in the transatlantic flight even at that speed, just it needed to use afterburners to take off and at low altitude, burning alot off fuel
Is it back again?

Hope it dont ruin my holiday week on wednesday :(
hahaahah I loved last years ash cloud because it saved me from a 2 hour Saturday detention
Holiday booked for 1st June, eek......
Some great helicopter footage of lighting in the ash plume here http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/ba...wup-pix-video/
Where can I get the music from that video? Really like it
Calm down everyone, Kata hasn't told us how serious this is, or isn't, yet.
parents are currently in Venice, coming back on thursday...
at least i hope so
Thank you, Santa, for waiting until I got here! I appreciate your faith in my analysis.
As any news report will tell you, this time is a drop in the ocean compared to last time; and last time, not a single ash-related incident was reported, even on aircraft which circumvented the restrictions on IFR traffic by flying VFR through the "danger zones". I am planning to fly with BA back to the UK on Friday, and then fly myself back to the Netherlands in a small airplane; the only thing I'm worried about is the wind and cloud, not the ash!
