Is it possible to get a Sofa Bed that is actually not a pile of gordon?

So as I turn my spare room into a home office, I was thinking I should still keep a single bed there for when friends visit, but I suddenly had a thought that a sofa bed might be better. Whilst I would never sacrifice lounging on the living room sofa for anything sub standard, the study I'll make an exception.

The problem is all sofa beds I've ever seen before are a faff and not very comfy at either been a bed or been a sofa. This one I don't need it to be a wonderful happy sofa, but quick to convert to a bed, and a decent bed that won't break after its been used a few hundred times.

So something that's a decent double bed, how much would I be looking at? Has anyone ever found one that isn't a pile of deception and underachievement?

Re: Is it possible to get a Sofa Bed that is actually not a pile of gordon?

Yes - I might be selling one... (the one in the corner of my lounge)

Guy and some other people can verify the comfort factor. It is a small double though.

It's an ex-Marks and Sparks. I'd aim for a pull out one over a foldy one anyday. Ikea do some reasonable ones too.

    Got any links/brands.

I know nothing about this so am turning to the internet, back in 2000 I put a certain term that I knew little about in, after quite an extensive array of educational texts, pictures and even blocky videos, I had quite extensive positive feedback from that research. So now I always turn to the net in times of a complete lack of knowledge, experience or practice.

No hurry - can park it in Mum and Dad's garage if needed (and July might be around about the best time for it)

Yes I am, well thinking seriously about, moving My own place - 100% mine, no lodgers

The pattern if you recall isn't fab, but with a couple of strategicly placed throws it can look lots better - perfect for spare accommodation purposes.

The sofabed I've got in my lounge is absolutely fantastic, but yes, they're not cheap - I think we paid ~ £800 and it's pretty big too - as a sofa it's longer than a conventional 3-seater. I'll check the brand and where we got if from when I get home tonight and let you know.

Cool could work quite well as I probably should save monies up again.

And yes own space thing, I'm looking so forward to it (doing transfer of equity paperwork n stuff to buy my flatmates share, then I'll never come back home to a full dishwasher thats not been turned on again mwahahahaha)

Also I'm looking forward to a cleaner, it is my understanding that is why we have Eastern Europe anyway.

can you PM me a pic?

Try Furniture Village, my parents got theirs from there, was about £1k but is very comfy (used it over Christmas) and makes a very comfy sofa as well. Takes about 2 seconds to fold out into a bed and it very well built.

Re: Is it possible to get a Sofa Bed that is actually not a pile of gordon?

Mine is very similar to this:
    http://www.marksandspencer.com/Wentw...=n%3A212030031

Move cushions, pull mechanism - bed pops out.
I've also found that if you don't need a massively thick duvet on it, it can be carefully folded away with the bedding on... Proper Pop-out bed.
I usually keep mine with a sheet on it, ready to throw a sleeping bag/Spare duvet and pillow on.

I'm looking forward to HAVING a dishwasher

    Will send pic later

Re: Is it possible to get a Sofa Bed that is actually not a pile of gordon?

We have one from a company that I can't remember right now (the wife sorted it), that is specifically designed to be used as a sofa and bed every day, so is very solidly built. The matress is even pocket sprung! However, it did cost an arm and a leg! If you want the details I can dig them out for you.

Sofaworkshop make some very good sofabeds. Comfortable as a sofa, proper sprung matress on the bed and some very nice styles.

They are made to order and not cheap mind.

The |M&S ones are good, so go for Tigs offer (I've got one and it is solidly built with a good mattress) Otherwise look at somewhere like John Lewis as well as M&S.

Like most things, you get what uyou pay for, and as someone earlier sid, a good one will cost upwards of £800 or so.

I got mine from Roche Bobois for €4,400, so I would recommend coming to an arrangement with Tigs. (Mine's really nice though, chocolate leather and very comfy as either a bed or a sofa.
