    Luggage

I'm off on holiday next month and my current holdall is rather battered, so I'm looking at getting a new suitcase. The rough specs I'm looking for: -

    - Around 70cm high or so (so medium to big)
    - durable; maybe a solid case instead of a fabric one?
    - light would be nice as well for air travel
    - wheels (pretty much standard nowadays anyway)
    - budget up to £100 if it's worth paying that much

Was just wondering if anyone recommends any in particular? Ta

    Re: Luggage

I go back to Aus regularly and swear by my old Samsonite hard case, but they've really shot up in price ! Might be worth looking at outlets and discounters. Personal preference is for a hardshell upright, rather than the 4 wheeled 'spinners' which are just annoying.

    Re: Luggage

Quiet a lot of samsonite going cheap on ebay, due to size they tend to be pickup only, so search locally by postcode.

    Re: Luggage

I bought a samsonite in Siagon for only $12!...... Its actually really rather well made, despite the authenticity been questionable.

I would say seeing as your a guy would a rucksack be OK?

I much prefer carrying one even short distances (such as the 3 min walk from my door to tube, after about 1 min I normally think, why did i take stupid carry on sized suitcase and not rucksack!). I also use an overpack to ensure that it goes through the airport with ease.

Agreed. I have one small backpack and the largish suitcase as my standard load out.

The only problem with a rucksack is that I plan on getting a camera rucksack at a later point, which will double as my hand luggage, so trying to carry two would be a pain.

I'll have a look into the Samsonites, cheers.

    Re: Luggage

My Camera rucksack fits inside my 85L with no worries. Then come the airport I take out my hand bagage from the top, overpack on, and straight through.

I also have a small carry on suitcase, but I only use that when wearing a good suite that I can't ruin with a rucksack.
