Searching Android application on a PC

Is there any way I can do that? From the looks of it (http://www.android.com/), I would need to get an Android handset to access the full list of catalogue (and presumably search through it). A bit silly given that I am probably not the only one who put as much/more weight in software as hardware.

I think you can't access all of it from a PC because it updates so often, and it may be device dependent (it is certainly region dependent) so that applications you can't run (too low resolution, no hardware keyboard etc).

Should have an option to view them for a selected phone/region though

It would definitely be handy to have a region/device filter or simply mention it next to the application for anyone changing platform. I spent some time reading on SoC and mobile CPU's last night (I never really bothered in the past), the Cortex 9 is where it's at this year. But superior hardware is only as good as the application that's available, and there are some fairly specific functionalities I must have on the Android before I jump ship.

Such as? IIRC there is functionality you could add/reference modules if you wanted.

@scaryjim: Could you please look up 'Japanese dictionary' on your phone to see how many matches you get. If it is somehow similar to the matches I am getting from the link above, then I can just look it up myself. Otherwise, I might bug you a little closer to the purchase date.

I get 36 results for japanese dictionary (i.e. without quotes) - 14 for "japanese dictionary" - from my HTC Magic...

Odd! My search was done on my Hero which uses the older Marketplace.

Applications can be submitted for a single marketplace depending on the android OS version supported IIRC
