Kitchen Islands - Anyone have one?

    Just want some opinions really.

We need a new Kitchen, and we have never had an Island before, but wherever we go, it just seems everyone is endorsing them with every single kitchen they sell i.e. you NEED an Island in any modern kitchen today - I don't believe that for a second, so much so, that I've been designing a few kitchen styles on www.Magnet.co.uk with their 3D kitchen planner.

Whatever I design, it just doesn't fit in (even though the kitchen is quite big) - Just doesn't look right, and I personally would just prefer a run of two walls with units below and above.

So does anyone have one of these islands and prefer then? (from what we see, they normally have a sink).

These things seem to follow fashion as much as anything else. I guess whether it is of use in your particular situation depends on the space you have available, and how the rest of the kitchen is organised.

In a Kitcehn/dining area it could work well as a separator between the two areas.
