Re: General Election 2010: who did you vote for?

Well, for the record I voted Conservative because the local candidate has always been polite and answered my queries promptly, even when it was on some odd ball stuff (remember Phorm??).

None of the parties are doing things the way I personally would but that's life

simply not true... both Clegg and Cable have said they would like to join if it was in the best interests of the British people, and that presently joining the Euro is not in our interests. They have also said that even if they felt the time was right, it would be a referendum.

Re: General Election 2010: who did you vote for?

Well I just voted, never even knew I had a local BNP candidate, or 1 of the independents that were standing.....

An old Tory guy wanted my voting number so he can "check me off a list as a voter" yeah right....

Re: General Election 2010: who did you vote for?

Just came back from the polling station. Voted Labour purely on the basis that I liked the candidate and the fact that LD dont have a chance in hell in winning in my constituency (so a slight bit of tactical voting on my part ).

Turnout seems pretty good as well. Lots of people at the polling station.

I've got to hand it to you, you do speak a lot of sense

But they are still a worrying number of Lib Dems up on that poll...

What does this mean? First time voter here and I too was asked if I could show an old Tory bloke my number so he could check me off a list, when I asked why he said it was so he didn't have to phone me and remind me to vote..

What's their game with that then?

Same here but I didnt notice which party these 2 ppl were from.

I voted for Lib Dem as their immigration policy would benefit me. They are not weak like Labour or lets-kick-them-all-out like Conservs.

Actually that's perfectly legitmate, they want to make sure that people who have said they're going to vote have come to vote. In some cases if you don't go and vote and have previously said you'd support a particular party, they'll send someone to come and get you, particularly if the early exit polls show it's a tight vote.

Re: General Election 2010: who did you vote for?

for all those people who've voted Lib Doom.. sorry Dem. are you currently in an Lib Dem constituency?

want to come to southport and see the mess the LDs have made here?

childrens A&E closed and moved ~20 miles away, down a single lane A road thats got traffic jams on it every day.
failed park and ride scheme, in an area where it was easier to park at the shops, than to use the park and ride to get to the shops.
pedestrianised the main shopping street (chapel street) to make it easier to go shopping, result being that most of the shops have shut, due to no passing traffic going "ooh, thats a nice shop, lets go there".
there has been some other crazy schemes that seem to waste money. including - really big suspension bridge that went a few million over budget over a 150ft lake. huge hotel/conference center thing next to it (Ramada hotel)

    its not all bad though..

steven gerrads opened a new restaurant here (right next to where I'll be working later in the year)..

    ermm...

    thats about it thats good.

maybe its just the LD MP whos in southport thats useless/crazy/bit of an idiot, maybe it wont be so bad in other areas.

thats why i voted conservative for MP and my dad for local council (he will sort them out)

Re: General Election 2010: who did you vote for?

We got a call from the local conservatives asking if we had voted yet and whether we needed a lift.

Seems they're desperate for this constituency considering the amount of sign-age about and about 10 different leaflets/letters/posters/other crap through the door from them.

Richard Nixon is our Lib Dem though

See the thing that didn't make sense is that it's traditionally a safe Tory seat, they must be concerned about it, mind you if they offered me a lift I'd take it, then go vote Lib Dem and say I changed my mind

*Shrug* - Labour and Tories don't seem that different IMO. Kick-them-all-out sound more like BNP, and I wouldn't call either of the two 'weak' either.
