    Re: iPad prices

what a waste of money.... Personally I will be waiting until tablets have matured a little, but i'd like to see what HP does with Palm's acquisition including WebOS, as well as the abundance of Android tablets that will be launching later this year...

    iTax - was inevitable.

That said, some of the new convertible machines coming out look very interesting, and a rival for the iPad.

£430 for the cheapest one, i can't personally see any practical use imo

Maybe if they launched something like this

Yep, but don't forget that not all states have sales tax so if you're in Oregon for example you would get one for $499.

No - $500 is around £340 - add VAT at 17.5% gives about £400 and then add shipping and insurance to that total.

    Re: iPad prices

Find someone who is going out to the states and ask them to pick one up for you? A guy at worked just paid £420 - inc a few quid for the guy who was out there, for the 32GB wifi. Apparently AT&T are forcing people to activate the 3G ones in the shop.

As above, it doesn't save you much - you still have to pay VAT on it when you bring it into the country.

For some reason I just got an unsolicited email from Apple on this (I think they're exploiting my iTunes account... grr), in which they referred to 'unbelievable prices'. Ironically, it's true.
