Brown To Seek the Support of the Lib Dems

So brown is now been appealing to the Lib Dems formally.

    (only live news links)

We might end up with a party that had a minority of votes, have a very large say as a result of the hung parliament.

Thought this was going to be a joke! Do you think Clegg would work with Brown, or is perhaps the price of that coalition a new Labour leader?!

I hope the electorate punish them for the coalition of the losers. I guess they think they can pass voting reform, to screw the conservatives before it collapses. Of course Labour is shooting themselves in the head as well... how power corrupts.

Whoop, just heard it on Radio 2 (note: not my choice of station!). Lib Dems + Labour wouldn't have a majority though but it would certainly make things interesting.

Oh now the beeb's pissing me off:

1722The Daily Mirror's Kevin Maguire tweets: "I lay down my job for the sake of my country. What do you have to say to Mr Brown now, Mr Clegg?
Putting things written by that utter dirty scrotum sack on a news sight is highly irresponsible when someone has proved all too recently that they don't understand the idea.

Re: Brown To Seek the Support of the Lib Dems

Whats really sad is all the Tory comments are being proved right, "A vote for liberals is a vote for Labour" etc. I really like the idea of both sides keeping each other in check of a Con+Lib.

Re: Brown To Seek the Support of the Lib Dems

Maybe now he and a select few others have gone, Labour and get itself back on track, learn from its mistakes and do a better job next time... after a con+lib partnership, in which I'm sure con+lib will fix a few things and bugger up the rest, but at a time like this we simply can't have our cake and eat it.

Still, I'd very much prefer not to see a labour+lib partnership. I didn't vote liberal just to get labour back in and the cons, as much as I disagree with a lot of their policies, ideologies even, they probably have what it takes to claw back the deficit better than anyone else.

Re: Brown To Seek the Support of the Lib Dems

TBH I would like for lib dems to force whoever they work with to initiate a fairer voting system and have an election in 6 months tops. Where the voting is proportional based on size of area, as my hometown (which is small, population ~ 10k) getting the same number of MPs in the Houses of Parliament (1) as a large town (Middlesborough) with a much larger population (150k).

Unfortunately I can see it not happening though which is a shame, shows how much they seem to actually care for the country.

Wasn't that the point of New Labour.

We tax and spend until the economy collapses, then leave it to the tories to fix it up. The tories become after a while ineffectual and corrupt after making a whole bunch of un-popular cuts as a direct result of Labour's miss-management of the economy.

The cycle will repeat itself, mark my words....

Re: Brown To Seek the Support of the Lib Dems

Fitting that the 3 front page articles on the beeb UK site are

"Brown to quit as Labour leader"
    "Fresh BA strike dates announced"
"RBS planning to cut 2,600 UK jobs"

So Labour have f**ked it up again, and heeding Mervin King's advice, don't want to be the party to administer the medicine.
