    Re: un-organised workplace?

I diddnt pull a sicky. I asked for am emergency leave.

Anyways finished my interview I think.I blew it. too nervous and showed them something that had a few bugs and issues and got grilled on it.

I pretty much tried to defend and blag my way out of trouble for half of the interview and there were things I all of a sudden diddnt know! its as if my mind was half blank.

ahh well back to the drawing bored

Well don't rule anything out until you hear from them! But don't beat yourself up over it, these things happen and just learn from the experience either for presenting better work or putting your hand up to mistakes rather than blagging

    Re: un-organised workplace?

Sorry to hear that - but you never know!

I don't think trying to blag is ever a good idea. If you were showing them something that had bugs in it, just explain that there are bugs (maybe it was a work in progress), how they have happened, and your plan to fix them and test the result. You might also explain any other atreas that might cause difficulties, and your plans to mitigate those. Remain pro-active in the interview, and try not to be defensive. That will impress far more than trying to waffle, which is immediately obvious to an interviewer.

    Re: un-organised workplace?

Yea i did mention how the app was more of a prototype then anything and began asking me how i would fix this bug and that bug etc. some i answered fine but others i diddnt give a clear answer.

When another guy began asking me questions outside of my app i managed to answer those as best as i can.

There were times were i over-elaborated on a few things and got a few things mixed up. Overall i reckon with a clearer head i could have done a bit better.

anyways i'll see what they say but i doubt i landed the job

    live and learn

If I needed to be then I was just upfront with mine - no good employer should have a problem with you seeking to better yourself, it shows ambition. But I didn't always advertise it either if I didn't have to (and in a situation where advertising it wouldn't have been to my advantage).

If you are upfront and they start refusing you leave then you can question that.

Yes, I'm always honest with my employers when I have a job interview elsewhere. Even if it goes nowhere, they're grateful for the honesty and it's never done me any harm (once even resulted in an instant pay rise!).

    Re: un-organised workplace?

2nd interview went well. didn't blag and told them i did not know any answers to some of their questions.

Its the first time in an interview i have had to draw up some of my explanations on a whiteboard lol. i think i did well on that part but my handwriting is shocking lol.

Not sure about the place though as 3 developers have left recently in there because of "seeking for better opportunities" plus the office is a bit cramped.

The work they do sounds interesting and more network related back-end stuff which i like to improve my skills on.

Got a tele interview coming up next week. hope i land a job soon

    Re: un-organised workplace?

Had a few more interviews so far and diddnt hear from them. im awaiting one i had 2 days ago though so should hear some feedback next week.

On a lighter note i got a PAYRISE . a decent one at that! Just shy lower then what i want but it will do.

I will still look for a new role though as its not just money im after. I got the payrise when i requested for one a week ago and it worked surprised as the company hasnt given almost everyone a payrise for the last few years due to recession etc.

i MAY stick around for a few months to build up my skillset even more and get my little android app out there for show and tell for interviews.

    Re: un-organised workplace?

same old Josh - a world built around lies, miss-trust and out for yourself.

telling lies to your current employer, blagging interviews, milking your current place for experience despite just getting a payrise,

    utter scum.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, jobs are a two way street, and you're not coming across as someone who would be good to employ based on the more so after you comments about milking your current company before going after getting the payrise you've been chasing for.

I'm aware of someone who didn't get a job because of comments he made on twitter about an interview he'd just had, so if you're discussing this on multiple forums, I hope no-one tracks you down from your many interviews as employers do check.

Personally in such hard times as an employer I hope no-one gives you a job and certainly don't wish you luck in your quest as you're attitude stinks and taking the idea of such an attitude taking the place of someone who really wants the job and wants to be part of a company offends me.
    It is Inevitable.....
