A small fundraising request if I may?

Hi everybody, I know these pop up from time to time, but i'm hoping that any exposure might help in some way or another, so here goes!!

An amazing friend of mine is heading to India in September for her gap year to help teach handicapped children at the Helen Keller Institute for the Deaf and Deafblind. (http://www.karmayog.com/ngos/hkidb.htm). It is one of those academic gap year projects where the volunteers are encouraged to raise the money needed to fund the placement, and she has done a great job so far!

She only just got the news of where her placement is and she is overjoyed, she is already fluent in sign language (I think this may be why Project Trust placed her there!), and is now only waiting on her leaving date. All we know for now is that it will be in September! I know that for the next year she is going to embrace this experience and give it her all

She has already managed to raise over £3000 locally and via other means than the internet, so really needs to push for the next few months to raise the remaining £1000 or so. I suggested a Just Giving page and she told me she already has one, so i've taken it upon myself to try and help out

Any donation (No matter how small!) would be massively appreciated The JustGiving page is http://www.justgiving.com/Harriet-White

Edit: Knew i'd forget something! Here is a rundown of where the money goes: http://www.projecttrust.org.uk/Finance.php

Sorry, knew i'd miss some important (And obvious) detail!

Here is Project Trust's explanation of where the money goes: http://www.projecttrust.org.uk/Finance.php

I'd imagined the money would cover the travel costs, cost of living and accomodation, and administration so I wasn't far off the mark

Re: A small fundraising request if I may?

As a former Project Truster (Indonesia '95-96) I wish your friend all the best and know that she'll have an incredible year....my time overseas was an unbelievable experience and established an outlook on life which has often proved invaluable.

I'll try to get a donation in place soon (although it'll probably have to wait until next month). If she hasn't yet tried it, I'd also recommend the local Rotary Club - my local chapter was very helpful - and the usual garage/church/car boot sale as well as organising some kind of mass sponsored bungee/parachute/bicycle ride. One of the volunteers from my year organised a bike ride the length of England with 10 friends and raised his entire requirement in one go.

Re: A small fundraising request if I may?

I have just made a donation. I'm really pleased for her, and I hope she has a great time while helping others less fortunate than ourselves! So come chaps - dig in - a lot of small amounts adds up to a large sum - show some !!
