It thought I was fairly clear, it's naive to suggest that simply jumping ship and finding a new job is a reasonable option as anything other than a final straw for a lot of people. And neither is simply accepting whatever terms the employer dictates. There must be a middle ground, which is well filled by collective bargaining.

You seem to be labouring under the mis-apprehension that having children should be a right. The permission to have children should be earned...maybe that would start helping with the flood of useless scum we're drowning under.

We now have strong employment laws. I fail to see the need for decrepit unions to hold the public to ransom.

I wonder how many business's will have to go under before unions start thinking beyond an adversarial approach?

    And in response to

But I am trying to get across the point that market forces cannot be the only factor in making these kinds of decisions because, like it or not, people's lives are very meaningfully effected by them. And not just the employees but the employees families and dependants.
Market Forces are the ONLY thing we can rely on, people have got to grow up and realise that THEY are the ones that set the criteria on which they operate. How else do cost dissadvantaged products such as Organic / Free Range foods survive. People are willing to pay extra because they attach greater value to the product due to its production methods. The trouble is our perception of "worth" and what constitutes a necessity as opposed to a luxury is so warped that people are actually deluded into believing that you can get something for nothing.
If Wisdom is the coordination of "knowledge and experience" and its deliberate use to improve well being then how come "Ignorance is bliss"
