waaaaaaaa, I dropped my Zeiss binoculars :(

    (heavily censored swearing)

Ive owned a pair of Carl Zeiss Jenoptem 8x30W binoculars for ages - my second pair, with my main ones being the Swift 8.4 x 44 Audubons...

Out over the weekend and as I was passing them over to my GF, I dropped the Zeiss. All My fault, and bang, they landed on concrete.

Objectives and eyepieces are fine, but one of the lenses between the eyepiece and the prism has chipped and the collimation is out by miles.

Just needed to vent, thanks for listening.
    Cheers, David

Re: waaaaaaaa, I dropped my Zeiss binoculars :(

Hmmm, On closer examination, its the prism thats chipped, not the lens !

All may not be lost as prisms are more easily replaced.

    Fingers crossed.

Worth about £120 quid according to recent ebay sales, cuz otherwise they was mint.
    Cheers, David

not so bad then, i thought you meant an expensive pair.

will they need anything more than a new prism, calibration or anything ?

Re: waaaaaaaa, I dropped my Zeiss binoculars :(

I can do the collimation myself, all I need is a broken pair of same spec....

and no, not sooo expensive as my old Zeiss Victorys, about £800 worth, but I wasnt using them enough to justify owning them

My Swifts are excellent too but only £250 ish value.

Re: waaaaaaaa, I dropped my Zeiss binoculars :(

New prism needs to be fitted and collimated professionaly Ive been told - gonna cost 60 odd quid.

I cant really afford that so Ive had to put them on ebay as spares or repair Sad day... But I still have my Swifts and a new pair of tiny Olympus 8x21s (a fiver off a boot sale !).
    Cheers, David
