Try taking a walk down Sauchiehall Street as there's plenty of pubs there and not all of them are crap...

West end mainly, mainly students and older and more expensive so better quality of clientele.
Yeah has to be west end to be honest. Walkabout is indeed terrifying.
I had a cracking night in the railway Tavern in Motherwell once
Yeah I got a few stares becuase they heard my dulicit Manc Accent, but after a few hours I had locals donating to me vodka and iron-brew drinks all the time.

Only ever go there if the train to england goes through there. It's a bit out of the way tbh.
Bit late now, but the Tennents bar on Byres Road is good. A bit old man ish, but cheap!!
