Flying RyanAir this weekend, anything I should watch out for?

Since they're notorious for skinning you out of your small change, I've checked and double checked their Gestapo baggage policy - 15kg limit and £20 for every kg you are over (i.e. it's cheaper to dump your things and buy more later). Thankfully I'm flying BA on the way back, never had any trouble with them and they've never complained about taking a carrier on-board as well as the backpack.

Anyone flown with them and know how much you can get away with cramming in your coat pockets to avoid the one bag rule? Or indeed what they're likely to try and pull on you?

Check that you're landing in the same region of the country you wish to go to.

Make sure you turn up early and seat yourself very close to the boarding gate as they're usually a stampede to get onto the plane so people can find the seats with some padding left on them!

Check in online, they'll charge you extra if you do it at the airport.

depending on the length of your flight, make sure to buy some water/whatever at the departures lounge, because you don't want to have to support their high prices.

I find the one thing worse than Ryain Air, is half the people on it. The scrum to board as if only window seats were acceptable, whilst half of them are leery pissed up northerners who's sole pursuit in life is flatulence.

make sure the plane has both wings, if you have paid for 15kilo baggage in the small print you only get one wing and fly in circles,

Pay for 30Kilos and they give you both wings.

bare in mind that the extra 15kilos will cost you about 4000 Euros

Re: Flying RyanAir this weekend, anything I should watch out for?

Yep checked in online - it's a £20 fee if you forget to print out your boarding pass.

The water/drink thing really gets my goat, you're forced to pay inflated prices anyway because they confiscate it at the x-ray machines.

Hopefully the cohorts of plebeians will be absent since I'm not flying to a particularly holiday-y destination (Altenburg, Germany) but you never know.

An extra 15kg on the day would cost me £300 I did wonder whether next time I should just book a seat for my luggage...

Slightly, but you can still get an okay deal - one of the the main duty free brands sells 750ml bottles of 'ethical' water for 99p. A certain pharmacy often do a sandwich + snack + bottle of whatever for an okay price as well. As they're all after security you're allowed to keep them.

Nope its £40 if you don't check in online and print your boarding pass out.

Depending on the airport don't buy any drinks from WHSmiths/other shops, just get some from the vending machines. They arent that cheap, but are usually cheaper than the shops.

Re: Flying RyanAir this weekend, anything I should watch out for?

Am I one of the few people who've flown Ryan Air without problems?

I didn't have issues when I flew from Stanstead to Cologne with them.

Mind you - was a couple of years ago - so perhaps they've changed for the worse since then.
