Question Speed Cameras, good thing or bad thing?

In light of a lot of councils deciding to scrap the goldmines that are Gatso speed camera's, what is HEXUS's take on it?

Are they a blight? Or do they make drivers reduce their speed & drive responsibly?

I realise there has been extensive research in this area, so make your point for or against.

Perhaps you could do some extensive research on the numerous threads we've had before on the subject

Personally, I much prefer average speed cameras, and hope we get more of them.

tbh speed cameras don't make a difference, all it means is a lot of braking goes on just before one and then speeding up afterwards

Re: Speed Cameras, good thing or bad thing?

Average cameras should hopefully eliminate speeding. Cameras in general I have no problem with, if you're speeding and you get caught - not my problem, obey the law next time.

Re: Speed Cameras, good thing or bad thing?

I'm not particularly against them, the thing I do object to, is that in some area's they're seen as a replacement for traffic cops. A gatso is never going to pull you out of a burning car, spot a drunk driver or any of the myriad of things a traffic cop can do.
