the sky is falling down!! perseid meteors

bit more warning for the dirty stop-outs amongst us this time.

look up into the night sky over the next few days and you will be convinced its falling in.
in other words there'll be a big meteor show called Perseid.

it happens every year, dont you know

The Perseids will look the best on thursday night. so those of you who have cameras, we want some good photos of them so we can marvell in the awesomeness, or use them as desktop backgrounds whatever takes our fancy at the time.

enjoy and dont forget your helmet.

I'd like to request a 1650x1080 photo please in advance, I don't have a digital camera and want to replace the volcano that's been my friend for the past year.

Always love seeing these kind of things and they can look great when your flying.

One of the best ones i saw was when i was mid way over the Atlantic a couple of years ago and saw some truly spectacular views.

Pretty clear for me in West Sussex, haven't had too long to stare tonight but 3 days ago I did catch 4 or 5 fly by. My brother's bringing his telescope tomorrow night, not sure what it is but it only fits in the back of a van!

Re: the sky is falling down!! perseid meteors

I saw quite a few of these when I was in the garden on Tuesday around 10pm. I'm usually looking up in the garden from 9-11 as the lights from my house attract a LOT of moths and other things which provides the local bat population with a good feeding frenzy.

They were located right on the big dipper and I saw about 7 in the space of 3-4 mins.

Finally a use for skymap on my phone! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-10941034 for a nice star map of where they should be. Shame it's so cloudy in the SW, going to see if I spot any tonight if there's a break.
