I saw a chinook on my drive to work flying over Tottenham, not a good as a Vulcan but not bad for London now nothing but police helicopters seem to be allowed over it.

I know what you mean - I saw one (presumably the same one) near Helston in Cornwall a few weeks back - mighty impressive and louder than your average.

    Re: Vulcan over cranfield :-)

I saw the Vulcan take it`s first flight after being made airworthy. I live and work in the Cambridgeshire area and was on a landfill site just outside of RAF Wyton when it roared over head extremely low, awesome sight it was too.

See loads of planes in the sky in this area, had a Lancaster bomber fly over the other week, must have been on its way to a display.

I saw the red arrows yesterday whilst i was washing the car.

The fastest I've seen them that low, when they haven't been performing.

    Re: Vulcan over cranfield :-)

We've had our fair share of aircraft over the years as well. Chinooks and Puma's are always going over (had the odd Merlin and radar dome equipped RN Sea Kings), had a Lancaster and a Douglas C-47 Skytrain fly over the other year. Over the years we've had a Chinook flyover the playing field over the road at tree top level (hell of a sight, I was on the field at the time) as well as a Thunderbolt II fly over my house (l was in my bedroom at the time), also at tree top level (I can still remember seeing that very distinctive tail disappearing into the fog). When I was at college we had an impromptu air show (during the holidays) when a C130 and two Tornadoes did some dog fight training out the front of my house (and my granddads house has been buzzed by any number of Tornadoes, Hawker trainers and even the odd F15 II ).

she came in, co altitude to the meeting room I was in, (all glass), when my boss pointed over my shoulder, out the window and said "what the hell is that?" and I looked over my shoulder and nearly stopped breathing, as she was just banking to cirlse the airfield.. and it was just beautiful

you could hear people in the main offices to the side of where I was, calling out to each other

    Re: Vulcan over cranfield :-)

I was driving past Kemble airbase in Gloucestershire (just down the road from where I live) a few weeks back when there was a Vulcan practising for the Fairford air tattoo. We were treated to an impromptu 20 minute low level display. Was pretty awesome, and my gf had her camera with her, so have some great shots

Indoodly, the Reds and the Vulcan were in Lowestoft on Thursday(Reds) and Yesterday (Vulcan & Reds) - they were giving the Vulcan the beans a bit, not as much as they used to at Mildenhall, but more than they have other years
