Anti-bullying website faces closure

Bullying UK, a charity that provides information and advice on cyberbullying, is seeking online donations to help save it from closure.

The online bullying website has called for help in raising funds after revealing it has three weeks to raise £50,000 or face closure.

The charity Bullying UK, formerly known as Bullying Online, has blamed the credit crunch and a refusal of central government funding for its cash crisis.

If anyone would like to give them a HEXUS helping hand, it would be a crying shame to see them fold.

Out of interest, how is this different from Childline, the NSPCC or CEOP? What does this provide differently or better than the alternatives?

It'd not different per-se, they deal with all aspects of bullying, across the age range. They aim to raise awareness through education (they have a children's poster campaign) and through the media.

Schools need to take the issue of bullying seriously. Stop thinking of it as simply meeting a criteria or another legislative overreaching demand. Creating an atmosphere of safety and zero tolerance, where bullying is simply understood as unacceptable, is critical to the long lasting change and ensuring youth security and well being. Assemblies with staff will not accomplish this. It’s about culture change.
