    Driving Test / Own Car

Hello Hexus :-) I'm in the progress of getting my licence, and I've still got a while to wait till my test date comes up, I want to use my own car, it's just a little 106 run around, but I feel very comfortable and in tune with it now...

And the other reason - I don't want to pay the huge fee to use the instructor car any more, rather just spend it on the car, getting insured and working proper. I've failed twice already /hangs head in shame. Last time was no minors / faults at all, but then a serious fault via some confusion over a broken traffic light. grr.

Apart from being insured, taxed and fully running of course (I have an MOT coming up soon anyway, so it might get serviced) Is there any other requirements I need for my own car? Would I need to stick an extra passenger mirror up? I'm getting conflicting yes / no answers for that.

    Thanks for any help.

Yes, you would need a 2nd mirror for the instructor.

You need to fit a passenger rear view mirror and head restraints as far as i'm aware

Re: Driving Test / Own Car

it will probably not be a problem to you, but i got turned away from a test before i even started as the car i was using had had a recall previously, and i did not have the paperwork with me to back up that the work had been carried out. needless to say i was livid...

i took the test (and passed) a month or so later in the same car and the examiner didnt even ask for the paperwork, which of course i had with me this time!

so good luck and just double check :-)
