Well, I've had a rather exciting month!

So I thought I'd tell y'all about it!

Right, on the 21st of July I left Aberdeen for London and the day later headed to the USA and started a Trek America trip on the 24th. That trip was 9 days long and they were 9 of the best days I can remember! The trip was really good. I'm currently writing about it and I'll post it up once I'm done if anybody is interested in reading about it!

I came back from the USA and 5 days later drove to Edinburgh where I spent 9 days working on a vessel called the Well Enhancer. On this trip I was working with another chap, and together we installed over 1km of Armoured Cat7 cable. This 9 days were 9 of the worst days I can remember, I absolutely hated it. I don't think working offshore is for me if I hated working on a docked vessel that much, I'm not wired for offshore life I don't think!

After that, I was off work for a day and then worked for 2 days and yesterday I moved out and into a flat with a friend of mine - he's been here for a year already so it was just me moving in. So now I'm settling in here.

It has all happened at once for me, its crazy! But I'm enjoying most of it - and 9 days worth of 12 hours shifts will lead to a healthy chunk of overtime in next months wages! I should be getting a HTC Desire next week too, score!

Just thought I'd share, and as I said I'll post my Holiday log-type thing once I'm done! I've just written the bit between Aberdeen and London and it was two pages on its own...I may have to edit it to create a more concise version!

That's a coincidence, I leave on Saturday to go a 14 day trek (Canadian Pioneer). Looking forward to it a lot (now there's no strikes to worry about) and hope to be as good as yours! I've also got 3 days in New York afterwards. Will look forward to your write up!

That means you end up in Toronto. This is excellent. Toronto is now my favourite city on earth!

Edit: The Finger Lakes are pretty sweet too, aim for Taughannock Falls if you can, very nice spot!

I wouldn't write it off quite so quick. It all depends what you are doing and where you are doing it. Construction, drilling and other movable vessels are generally worse than fixed production platforms Mainly because they are contracted for a certain amount of time to do a particular job, if there are delays the contractor gets penalised heavily. Perform well and you get bonuses (well, someone does). Regular offshore on production platforms, nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely, and if you can't do it safely you don't do it at all. tea breaks are very common
