    Broken Chair! :(

    So i just bought a chair from Viking Direct. The cheap and cheerful Berlin which was so popular in a recent thread.

    Unfortunately as i was putting it together, i ran into some difficulties. The holes on the backrest which attach to the armrest didnt quite align. This caused one screw to bend, one to get stuck and strip and another to snap entirely

    I have dismanteled it as best i can and tomorrow i am going to call them to see if they will send a courier to take it back and refund me but im quite annoyed to say the least

    Has anyone had any experience with Viking direct when it comes to this sort of thing who can give me some advice?

    IIRC bought 2 leather chairs from them a few years back, the handle alignment was a real pain in the arse so we just left the arms off one chair. Didn't bother sending them back at the time because we figured we weren't putting them together with enough force or something.

    I'm sorry to say they probably won't refund and will likely blame you for not putting it together properly.

    I feel for you though as they really are a pain to put together - the holes never do quite align right without a lot of force, and its scary to see the amount of force put on those tiny bolts. I've had to drill a new hole in one of mine before!

    I just called them up and she assured me it must have just beed a one off bad char. They are sending me another one no problem Wierd thing is she said to assemble the new one and then call her to arrange collection of the old one. Would have been more sensible to have the courier to do a swap really but never mind eh!

    a disturbing and growing trend this, Shirly you would contact the supplier first and then if there is a problem turn to the forum. It's not like your asking about a businesses credentials prior to making a purchase, that would be fair enough. I don't understand
