you know that game when you run up to peoples doors, press the bell and run away again? you can now do that as a profession - its called Royal Mail.
useless waste of skin-type- individual runs up door steps, pushes a card through the door, rings the bell and naffs off. i read said card expecting something silly like a 'you've won stuff - ring this premium rate no. for about 1hr while we keep you on the line and fleece you'
-but no. it was a card stating that at the time of 10.45am i was not in and they are holding my package somewhere else...

um, hang on. its not even 10.30am, I AM in and who the hell are you not to deliver a package to me?!!?
whats going on with this world eh? you just can't get the service anymore. monkeys employing idiot lay-abouts to do a serious job, which in the past was respected like any other job.

i also wish to add my dissatisfaction of going to one shop of a particular mobile phone company, its name is that of a colour of citrus fruit, i asked the assistant about a particular advertisment on the company website outlining briefly the offer thet have.
i was told they [the shop] did not, and had not heard of that deal
    ?
when i politely explained it was on their very own website, and had been published in several newspapers i asked for further explaination.
she replied: we may have the same name but we are separate.
    ? you what?
so is this not a shop, a purveyor of said company phones?
    -yes
and in what way are you different?
were just are. we don't do the same things as the company
    ?you what?

at this point her mobile rings and she actually answers - whilst mid-conversation with me!! how outrageously rude is THAT!! so i waited...and waited...and waited.
finally she hung up and i asked a second time why the shop is different. especially since the company advertises so openly an offer (even if you ring them up its confirmed). but if you went into a shop to get it, you clearly cant. ??!!??! how does that work.?

right then - could i have an ice cream instead please?

[by the way i called the customer services and complained about their appaling treatment of me in their shop and i think they're all being 'sorted out'. i can't express how much i'd like to 'sort them out' myself, with a baseball bat.
oh and i got a better deal than the contract i'm on at the moment, more free mins and free text's. its sometimes good to have a right go at someone. but i sympathise - as with my own experience - i hate big faceless organisations where there's no one who takes any responsibility, just passing it along. ever heard of 'Too many Cooks...'?]

I don't know about you guys, but I find I have pretty good services from Royal Mail. Don't forget, it is impossible to live on £22k in or around London. It is insane to ask people to do try that, no matter what they do for a living.

It's the old public versus private sector lark isn't it.

I work my balls of in the private sector and I can't afford to buy a house in the south east and I'm sure that goes for the people in McDonalds and Hospital cleaners (privatised).

Still doesn't mean that if I'm in an organisation that losing money hand over fist with the threat of privatisation I can go in strike and make a p*ss poor service even worse just because they won't compromise. I understand they've been offered an extra £300 and they want £1000...I bet some of them will be making the difference by selling the stuff they nick.

Above all I think it's just teh bad apples that are giving the barrel a bad name. I'm sure a very high percentage of the Royal Mail are A1 and A-OK.

You think Royal Mail is unreliable and dishonest? You should try USPS.

TNT are aiming to take over some of the mail ie junk mail from Royal mail if they dont live up to the rules stated by the sensus

But tbh even they will be crap at it

PPL need to remember that royal mail has something around 97.00% success rate on all items delivered via first class stamp, RMSD Is around 99.00%

Mind you they do loose alot of things but that is the nature of the beast i guess mistakes can happen! if they loose 10 letter's they have delivered around 10,000 correctly

But no other company can offer a letter to be sent from way up north to way down south in 2-3 working days for 27p and even ppl getting it next day!

As ppl have said RMSD is ther way to go but think about it logically most thing sold online via these forums are over 30 squid mark so why send via RMRD your asking for trouble.

If you havent guessed im a postman and some of the story shock at times, from stealing to ppl sending 100 squid via 1 first class stamp to an address that dont exist and not even sealed!

the strike on October1st is about a claim for £1000 extra London weighting and the employers have only offered 30% of this.

I must temper the debate, this is just letting off steam.

If you come a cropper of the Royal Mail you might as well p*ss in the wind.

I used to like Amtrak as they came at about 6.30am, when I was awake anyway.
They were cool, only knocked on the door if they saw a light.
