I met a woman in a park whilst walking my dog, at about 5am. She was, I admit, eating food out of a bin at the time, and yes, you probably couldn’t describe her mental state as ‘conscious’ using the purest definition of the word; but she wanted all of me, baby.

Whenever i meet a girl that i like and get on with well she always seems to already have a b/f.

I think im doomed to singleness.

Aww, don't you say that! I'm sure you'll find a nice girl someday, don't push it, it'll come
you in a while. I'm sure! I thought that before too, but I did find a b/f when I least expected it!

Take friday night for example. Met a really nice girl, we got on like a house on fire, drinking, dancing etc. Saturday night she signs me in to the union, hey presto look who's waiting for her, her blokee. Dagnammit. Course her blokee see's the threat and has a go for signing me in, but to be honest i would never split 2 other people up just to get what i want so he has nowt to fear (which is maybe where i am going wrong?).

Been waiting for 23 years for the "right girl" now - how long are you supposed to wait? Perhaps its time for operation "shock and awe" and a zero tolerance policy towards other blokes

Nah i'd never go after another guys special person...for the simple fact it really really hurts if you lose someone to someone else I know, because it has happened to me in the last couple of months to my g/f of 2 years.

    As for finding new people/partners?

I would, if i was seriously looking [which unfortunately i am not], take the approach of meeting any kind of new friend, whether it be man or women. From that, you will then get to know their other friends of which hopefully a few will be female -AND- attracted to you -AND- single

Maybe you don't even get to need to know new people? Just see or ask your mates if they know people...you might be suprised. Or possibly hooking up with some old school friends you have lost contact with, see what that digs up.

There is lots of good options, because if you do make new friends then yep, you've made some new friends and that gets a firm but you also might meet a new partner. Its a win win situation tbh, you've just gotta be pro-active imo.

After being a singleton for a very long time (5 years ), I met two girls in the space of a month in my local pub. The first didn't last two weeks, but I married the second.

I went to a lot of clubs and stuff when I was single, but I was too shy to chat up any girls. In the end I pulled when I didn't expect to, just drinking with my friends. Go out, socialise and make friends and you'll be sure to meet a fair few girls. I don't know if you have a job at the moment, but that's a surefire way to meet new people and make new friends in my experience.

This thread is not doing me any favours

Firstly, I DO get out and socialise, I DO meet lots of people and I DO get chatting with the ladies. I'm not some hermet who sits at home all day and all night.

Secondly, the idea of the thread was to see where other people meet people. My efforts haven't been all that productive so I was curious to see where others went.

It's blatently bloody obvious that people "need to get out" to meet people.

Right. Sorry about that. Felt it had to be said though...

Well, what I (and as far as I can see everyone else) is trying to say is that there aren't any magic, secret locations that you haven't considered. I can't really see the point of the thread if you already go out and meet girls.

    Friends of your friends really.
If you go out with mates (of both sexes) they are bound to invite some people you dont know along with you, and you'll meet someone like that

EDIT: that post is from a single person , so its probably complete rubbish

best place to look: friend of a friend's brother's best mate's sister's room-mate's cousin...always works best and few complications.

no, seriously though being part of a boat club helped me meet lots of people, also uni friends who had friends...
so I think knowing a friend with a friend works best.

Women/laydees/girls can be found all over the United Kingdom absolutely anywhere, the finest, however, are located in the grand old county of Yorkshire
