Will someone explain to me HOW ON EARTH ..

..the following words are truly acceptable in today's switched on society.

We are appy to offer you....

    A DEBT BUSTING LOAN

Lets just sort this out for one moment shall we....?

The words DEBT BUSTING and the word LOAN ......

    DEBT....LOAN.....same thing...

How on earth is it acceptable in todays controlled world, where you have to have APR's in bigger bold type face than the monthly payments, where Watchdog is hapy to accuse any company at all of making more money than another.....

to OFFER A DEBT BUSTING LOAN?

How can a LOAN ever EVER be DEBT BUSTING.....it puts you in debt.

    My head hurts

they're assuming u've got more than one line of debt, so really it's a consolidation loan with smaller monthly payments which will, in practice, have you paying it back till after you're in your grave and *IF* you manage to pay it back, you pay back 3 times the ammount you needed in the first place.

It's stupid and wrong, but some people see it as the only way out.

ITs not that stupid and probably not that wrong.
If the company can sell it then obviously people out there either need it or are so greedy as to be bowled over by the pure debt bustedness of it .

The realy stupid people are those who willingly go into debt and heppily live beyond their means. I understand that for most people it is necessary to take out loans for cars, uni fees and houses and in many cases these are hefty debts which can take a long time to pay off. Yet so many people I see clock up massive credit card bills and multitudes of little loans which supposedly allow them to live a better life. Its basically just greed in a lot of cases.

I know the loan and credit card companies are not helping by making it so easy to take out loans. But people should be a bit more sensible and at least try and live within their means.

Live frugally for a few years, pay off your debts or save your money, and you will feel a lot better for it.

its more a question of the Description it offers.....

The two things in one sentence seem mutually exclusive....

DEBT BUSTING....to cure you of your debts, to rid you of....etc etc.
LOAN.....to get you into a debt situation.

Ghost Buster......to rid you of ghosts
Dust Buster....to rid you of dust
Debt Buster ....to get you a new one!

Go figure....I'm sure the Trading Stadards dudes will swoop on this soon

Well its clearly designed to bust your debts. The fact that you end up with another, bigger debt at the end obviously escapes the target audience of this advert

Is todays society really switched on? I mean, sure the middle classes which make up the majority of Hexus readers probably are, but people in lower income groups often see this type of loan as an easy way out normally from credit card debt, and are taken in by the marketing. And once those credit card debts are transfered, you can start spending on the cards again!

Im working class (and very much in debt) - and I dont see anything wrong with this - the only problem is that if these people use the loan to get further into debt. The loan is meant for purposes of repayment of however much you owe to credit card/otherloans etc. etc. - if you dont use it for that, you deserve to be get further into debt. simple as. There are actually a few good deals that do help people (few and far between) to get rid of debt, but not enough is ensured to meet the purposes of repaying what you really owe.

banks that finance such loans are literally betting that ppl who take this (who are already in debt) are going to dig themselves deeper. a good portion of loan takers arent going to reconcile their accounts soon which is why loans are such a viable commodity - especially if you advertise "rid yourself of debt!". The banks or financers behind this know it's money made either way - question is only how much.

Which is precisely why I wont take such a loan

They maybe mean it in the sense that it is a "debt" and a "busting loan" in the sense of the one that breaks the camels back?
