Worrying

Well - came downstairs today, and was in the kitchen, heard a noise. I thought it was the post - but my post always comes at 11am. Anyway I walked in to the lounge - what did I find? a mad bird flying around the room! don't kow how it got in but have spent ages cleaning the mess up!

Yeah we get that, normally theres a cat attached to it...

we did that... cat brought a bird in but wasn't bright enough to realise it'd fly away if he didn't kill before letting it go.. cue chase around the house and subsequent rescue of bird..... only for the cat to bring it back in and bite it's head off

I have no cat - might get an Aibo, but don't know how it got in - maybe down the chimney?

What kind of bird was it?
Something biggish like a pigeon etc can cause a nice bit of damage. We had two Jackdaws fly down our chimney once whoich was fine untill we tried to catch them . They flew around madly crashing into things and knocking things down but their downfall came when they tried to fly through a closed window at about 20mph . That resulted in two stunned birds that were easily caught and put outside. IT didnt seem to bother them much though, they just got up and flew away once they were outside

Hey, weird co-incidence. I met my wife at her Mum's house last night to be told that they'd just found a cat in their sitting room that had been there for two or three days. It eventually gave itself away by mewing at my wife as she walked past the sofa. We think he'd got in through the open back door on Monday. Anyway, the people who'd lost it had put a 'have you seen our cat?' note through every door in the street, so after we finally got through (after about 45 minutes of engaged tone ) two kids (maybe 10 and 12) came and picked him up. They looked very relieved. He was quite a nice cat actually, but he was a bit scared of me for some reason. Normally cats can't resist my imitation mewing.

Once a sparrow got into the glass front porch of a shop I worked at- we think through the letterbox, not sure how he managed it. He must have been flying around thumping into the glass for ages by the time we managed to get him out of the door, he flew off but only made it about 5 yards before collapsing into a bush looking very hurt.

lol best thing to do in this situtation is to make the room as dark as possible while coaxing the little bird ( feathered not human Zak33 ) into a corner. Cover the bird with a towel and then gently carry towards the nearest doorway.

I've used this on a few occasions when the odd mag-pie and crow used to fall down the chimney at my mothers house and not a single animal was harmed

we get more mice than birds. Best way to get rid of them is a welly boot on the floor. Mice run into dark book looking for protectiion. Pick up boot take outside. tip upside down. Works everytime.
