Had a look at some of the handsets and deals offered by 3, must admit to being tempted by a couple of the options.
anyone using/used 3 and have an opinion?

some of the PDA/phones with 3 re superb,a nd there calls are cheap, highly recomended if u want sumthin a bit different
Gamertag - Russonf (xbox and ps3)
They're not bad, can't be beaten on voice minutes but MAKE SURE you can get good 3 reception in your area or you will be shafted.
Also as I said before, I'd say if you're going to go with them, only go for the LG phone, as it has by far the best reception (yes, the phone does make a lot of difference) !
The 3 network offers the best contract out atm... unlimited 3 (three) wap min and msgs for your first 3 months....
However, pick your phone carefully... most of there phones dont even last a day on standby... never mind using it.
The missus has had quite a few problems with 3 and that big, wide NEC phone. I'll post more details when she's awake, if you're interested.
aye as much info would be appreciated

I sold 3 (three) phones when they were new for a few months here in Sweden... NEC e606 and e808, and later the Motorola A835 and A920. Must say it is the only product I've felt guilt for after selling to a customer.
They had mobile video communication and some neat stuff, but they forgot that it was a retail phone and not a concept showoff before starting to sell them. And from what I've heard about the later models here in Sweden, it isn't much better now.
My g/f has a A835, it's nice if you want to knock someone out, and if someone steals it and tries to run, it won't go fast. In short, it weights a ton. And the A920/A925 is even worse. You could think that the weight would give it better standby times and perhaps some more functions, but unfortionally that is not the case. It's not much better than the smaller NECs. Though the A920/925 does bring you a PDA with a tiny display and symbian OS...
They haven't started selling any LGs here in Sweden that I am aware of, perhaps they've done it better. But as the situation is here, I would never let anyone I know buy a 3 phone for the moment, would just bring them pain and suffering
And also, as meantioned earlier, don't forget to check the reception conditions. It's a new network, and that means it is an unfinished network...
Light travels faster than sound. Is this why some people appear bright until you hear them speak?
i remember seeing something on watchdog a few months ago about how their reception is terrible and its hard to make a standard phone call let alone a video one, in saying that though they may have changed now. and i've got to admit their new nokia 7600 at just £129 on pay as you go is pretty tempting to me
The LG phones are very nice with a very crisp clear screen
Not sure on battery life tho
subuncni - I haven't checked the 7600 much, but I saw one review that said that the key layout was terrible. They had real problems using the '6' key at all. Be sure to try it before you get one, haven't got this confirmed from any other source but it does indeed look strange when you look at it. And I haven't had the oppertunity to try the phone myself yet...

yeah, the lay out is crap, but we had it in work, and for £129 on pay as you go, thats pretty cheap, considering it has camera, mp3 player etc.. and is quite light (compared to others) and about the same size as my minidisc player.

Basically, the phone kept conking out - sim card slot problems, iirc. It would often require the sim replacing in the slot, despite the phone being completely stationary on a flat surface.
The video network was "down" a lot, according to her. I have no idea as I never played with the phone, but whenever she wanted to access any of those features - she had connection problems to it/it didn't work.
Customer Service - POOR. Ellie cancelled her 3 account in.. March, I think. Despite accepting that she had to pay a cancellation fee, she was still billed in April and May. No sign of a cancellation fee, and the account was still completely active (even though she hadn't used it.
She then inquired about the problem, and the customer service operative said that she'd have to send them the phone back... they hadn't mentioned any of this at all for the first few times that she'd rung them. Nor was it mentioned in the documentation/contract.
So this went on for around a month, up until last week, when she received her next phone bill, called them up, blah blah blah... Norah Jones on a constantly skipping CD whilst she's on hold. They say they'll ring her back, they don't. She gets a little legal advice from a friend, he says to show the "legal action if something isn't done now" card, and it gets sorted in under an hour.
Hm, I don't know..I've heard a lot of bad stuff about em' they seem so big! Which they are..like the A835, it's really like Starkmjolk said..it's good if you'd like to knock someone out or if you don't wanna loose it, it's always there.
Okay the video communication it's niceBut..nah, I'd rather wait until something better shows up!

Now I remembered something more... there is one possitive side of 3 actually. The price. They are among the cheapest, that is not to forget. Atleast in Sweden all calls from 3 to 3 is free. Not that it matters too much since the phones will run out of battery in an hour or two max.![]()

3 Sweeden is apparently quite compared compared to 3 uk who are abysmal !
for a start you cant gprs outside their network , or use MMS to anythign other than a 3 phone.
dont even think about phoning customer services ( guess where they outsource their call centre too... )
they may be cheap, but remember. Pay peanuts , get monkeys.
