go to a uni's genetics dept nearby, explain the problem and they should lend you a humane trap. put in a small chunk of chocolate ( i have it on good authority that small rodents are fond of a piece of choccy!) as a lure inside, leave it in the room for a day and you should find mr mouse has made his way into the trap.
worked with my hamster! and it's what they do in labs if they lose a mouse.
They buying a lassoo?
Well a good old fashioned mouse trap is one solution..or if you don't have one and need a quick fix try this:
You need a drinks bottle, some chocolate, some time, and someone who isn't scared of mice.
The bottle must have a big enough hole in the top to let the mouse get in - so coke bottles and the like are no good here; milk bottles from tesco/sainsburys (semi-clear plastic ones) work well (what I used when I did this). Then you place the chocolate at the back of the bottle, and a bit near the front too..then place the bottle half into the room (so you can still see it) and wait. When you see the mouse go into the bottle (remember they like tunnels, especially with a treat at the end ) you need to be quick and grab the bottle and cap it with something (a bottlecap with airholes works well o.O ).
Its a bit labour intensive as you have to sit and watch the bottle, but when we had a mouse loose in our bathroom this worked..was a boring 30min wait tho ;/
edit: Penut butter apprently also works well as a treat, or anything sweet

Howcome so many people on here are getting some kind of rodent in their homes?
Quite worrying considering rodents like a nice cosy, considerably unclean environment, other than that; get a cat and lock it in the bathroom problem solved, when rodent is history, get a dog to get rid of the cat and so on
