Pretty much, yeah, even when the blatant attack is masked. Discuss the issues, not snipe at the person.

No, that's not it, no personal attacks at all, blatant or otherwise. None.

A forum can only grow in a healthy way if new members can join and feel comfortable, if any the attitude of any member prevents that, then said member will find themselves without access, possibly permanently.

    Re: Please all read

I don't see why, on a supposed forum of adults and mature people that we need to keep seeing these kind of threads.

If you can't reply to someone in an adult/ mature manner then dont reply its kind of simple really.

    Define "these types of threads"?

If you the insulting ones, me neither, and I agree with your conclusion.

If you mean this thread about those threads, it's because we keep seeing the other type of thread.

I meant both really Saracen insulting and this kind

A forum of supposed adults shouldn't have to be reminded of how to act towards other members of the forums and in the same breath a forum of adults should be able to discuss things without insult one another.

I've just been speaking to a member who told me he has given up on Hexus because of how he was treated in a thread he started, this member is/was a long standing member.

Yes, and some of the comments made to those that some members regard as spammers don't help either. A genuine newbie might not recognise another new poster as a spammer, and if he sees comments on that thread, it may put him off joining. Thats why we appreciate the reported post mechanism so we can investigate further and take appropriate action without t being pulic.

Sadly GD is the forum that requires the most moderation and monitoring effort - and by a large margin.

Whew, good. Proof there is still some life here now and again then. When ATI vs nVidia in the hardware forum becomes the worse then the whole thing needs shuttering.

Doesn't hurt to be reminded from time to time when people fall out of line. Give someone an inch and they'll take a mile.

I know who you mean and I PM'ed him in an attempt to get him to stay.

If I was him however, I'd have probably done the same.

I dont know if he has checked pm's or not but next time I catch him on MSN I will get him to check.

I also tried talking him into staying, whether it worked or not I don't know because he had to shoot off.

Shame really, he is/ was one of the few members from Hexus that I speak to outside of Hexus.

Thing is, should a group of adults need reminding of how to act.

I'm pretty sure we don't want it to get to the point where members are getting banned for not being able to behave like someone with half a brain or half an ounce of maturity.

    Re: Please all read

I do read the forum fairly regularly and I have to say I've never seen this type of behaviour to be an issue here, every now and again a couple of discussions turn a bit ugly as the op or a few members get a bit cheesed off when they discover the majority don't agree but thats about it aside from the occasionally blatant troll post thats generally maturely dealt with here.

Totally agree with you there mate, but some members do need telling. Some are sadly not as mature as others it would appear.
