The Police are in a word, useless.

I guess it depends if you want a Police force that is just catching crims or you want one that protects people. Well they didn't care when my bag was stolen, and when my neighbour treated to assault me for the 10th + time. Even when they turned up there for a "Domestic" with 2 police cars and a van, they preferred to stand around chatting than impounding there 3 Vans outside the house which had no car tax on them. When the lack of tax and insurance was point out to them, the response was very probably, and they went back to ass scratching. I don't think they do a good job of catching crims or protecting the people.

A stolen bag is hard to find and probably doesn't warrant the required input. A threat to your person is not something they can act upon I don't think? You actually need to be assaulted.

Possibly, they'd already done a vehicle check and reported (to be handled by DVLA) and wanted to get on with the more imminent 'domestic'? If they'd arrived and checked the vans first, people would moan about that choice of priorities.

In fairness, a few isolated incidents don't warrant the thread title. The value of the police is often in what you don't see them do in dealing with serious crime, rather than what you do.

Our police are pretty good, especially considering the political handcuffs they are made to wear by politicians and their senior officers.
