Official Hexus ANTI-Big Brother thread
Well, it's here again.
This time, I'm going to see if I can exist in this country for the next ten weeks without learning anything about Big Brother. I don't intend to even learn the names of the muppets in the house. If a news item on Big Brother comes on I'll either change the channel or cover my ears and start singing.
I'm serious about this, I've had enough of this crap. I quite enjoyed the first Big Brother and I once sold a camera to Anna, the woman who came second in the first Big Brother, but it stopped being funny a long time ago. It's my intention to boycott any company who advertises during Big Brother, and I'm going to automatically go and do something fun any time a Big Brother broadcast comes on the tv:).

Well, 2 homosexuals, 1 lesbian, 1 bisexual, 1 transsexual, 1 homophobic, and 1 of the homosexuals only likes straight guys. How can u not be interested?
-
I think an anti big brother sig image is coming on ;) Now who is gonna design one?
-
Quite agree. I watched the first Big Brother, and it was class; very interesting, but now, it’s lost its shine, and I've no interest in watching Big Brother 78.
The idea is supposed to be seeing how (almost) normal people react to each other; what made the Nasty Nick stuff so interesting was that he was a normal bloke, who started playing to win. Now they are looking for people who might do something interesting, or throwing homophobes in with camp hairdressers, so we can see the reaction.
If the Yanks hadn't requested that he get his collar felt, they probably have stuck Abu Hamza in there, along with a Neo-Nazi, the widow of Rod Hull, a morbidly obese Dwarf, Siamese twins, one of which hates pasta, and the other of which survives only on pasta, and John Prescott.
Ironically, if they had done this, I'd watch it 24\7.

I can safely say we all would, Abu Hamza should be getting deported soon anyway :heckle: :)
-
Putting John Prescott in there would be a good idea. keep his influence away from political situations for a bit!

At the end of the day mate, I actually know a few gay people IRL, homosexuality isn't really all that entertaining to me, I'm used to it.
Rich :¬)
Edit: Don't know any homophobes in fairness. Luckily (for them).

Thats why its interesting! The way they react to one another, im hoping to get a few good laughs out of it.
-
hmm lets all laugh at the expense of one's sexuality. The produces of this are gonna love it this time round. The ppl who have gone into big brother are now in a surreal atmosphere in a completely stupid enviroment.
The producers obviously want a fight out of it all, they are going to exploit these ppl in all ways possible. so while there are some "fisty cuffs" in the program the producers are gonna sit back and watch the ratings go up because too many ppl like watching it.
I cant see how this is entertaining. that d*ck head who stripped off 1st gave you a pretty good idea of whats to come. bloody childish "grown-ups" getting over excited cus they are on tv. what a bunch of t*ats.
makes me cringe.
-
-
Have to say - I think the only interest in the show is realising what freaks are in it. (The other thread does not indicate my personal views.)
-
I've avoided watching a minute of Big Brother ever since I saw a glimpse of the first series and I am going to keep that up for as long as I'm alive.
TV is getting worse and worse nowadays
-
-
During the week while I'm away from home the studio I rent has no tv....RESULT!!!!!....I won't even catch a glimpse of this trash by accident.
The producers must be getting desperate though judging by what has been said. Homophobes, homosexuals and mixed dormitories with double beds. The whole reality tv formula is old now. Should be called 'surreality tv'
-
i can't stand it, but seem to get sucked in, my gf hates it so hopefully this year i will stay away... it's just sick and wrong this year :)

Every year I swear I'm not going to watch it, but somehow by about the 3rd/4th week, I seem to be glued to it.

-

What is this "Big Brother" you speak of? Infidel!!
-
I've got a feeling that this will be popping up on lots of people's sigs soon... including mine! Had to get rid of my specs to make room though
-
There goes my specs :D
Thanks Tom :)
-
-
Last year i saw all of 10 mins of Big Brother. Sadly i have seen nearer 15 so far and i will try to avoid it as much as possible. Gonna need support though to not get drawn into it...! Hexus is here to help i feel ;)
-
Still not watched more than a fraction of a second- tragically I've been forced to watch Hell's Kitchen insted:mad:.
-
I hate Big Brother
I have been wandering around the web these last few days trying to distract myself so that I am not tempted to watch BB8. I really hate the programme. Luckily I came across a petition at GoPetition to have BB banned. I signed it of course.
-
Might have been better to post in a thread that wasn't three years old :P
Welcome to the forum anyways :)
-
Sorry
I saw it was 1st June but didn't notice the year ( I am feeling so flustered now BB8 is underway).
-
Did'nt see 1 second of last years ritual dumbing the Nation down cheap tv and i plan on avoiding this years ! Its horrible that wherever you go you cant 100% avoid it but hey, we can do our best !! :angst:

Haha, no worries :)
The rage BB causes is clearly apparent :P
-
Why are people so intrigued? I cannot fathom it. The first show had novelty (and perhaps potential) but that was about it.
Do we really live in a so called society whereby people will pay good money (i.e voting for people or not) to have their say about such trivia?
It really is just a big marketing scam but the muppets and chavs just keep on spending. It's made worse because those that are so insecure feel they must know something about the latest episode in inorder to feel "with it" as they gather around the water cooler.
I'd personally like to "execute each and every last one of you MF's that move" for the the remote control in order to switch to BB.
It's insidious pap. Grrrrrrr
-
damm bb sucks! ban it already!!
-
Well, I'll be out of the country until it's basically over so no way I'll accidentally see any of it :)
-
I can't stand Big Brother, or any other "humiliation" television, where the point of the show seems to be to put people in situations they find uncomfortable or even deeply unpleasant.
How people are entertained by it is totally beyond me.
-
I'm just glad they put it on at the times when i would be watching the Apprentice or Hustle, etc. :D
-
As per usual I'll be ignoring the whole BB circus, couldn't care less what bunch of weirdos they've scraped together this year. I've never watched it and never intend to.
Most the people who have been on BB are a waste of perfectly good skin imo. They do nothing notable to gain their celebrity other than existing (which is quite an achievement for some of them).
Totally agree with Free Thinker, it's just an excuse to throw people together who probably wouldn't mix in the real world and see the sparks fly.
-
didnt even know it was on till i saw my mum watching it on tv. and yes its boring now. stopped taking interest since 2004. the police are watching it too for any racism :P, maybe that will get it shut down? who knows
-
Thanks for bumping my thread from 2004. No need to re-write it at all as nothing has changed. BB is still a complete waste of breath, and I'll be having nothing to do with it this year if at all possible.

Re: Official Hexus ANTI-Big Brother thread
Well enough is enough!
Not only has the most profoundly trashy television program ever created returned for yet ANOTHER year in this country, but this time around they have the audacity to exploit and butcher a classic vehicle, the Volkswagen Kombi.
Join with me in uniting and supporting the following petition:
We, The United Kombi Lovers Front of Australia (or is it The Australian Kombi Lovers Front?), wish to protest the cruel and callous torture of Volkswagen Kombis on the Australian version of Big Brother. It is bad enough that the network expects us to tolerate the incessant advertising featuring the arrogant and talentless Sydney-centric hosts (especially the reviled Kyle Sandilands) without expecting us to stand by while an innocent vehicle is brutally disfigured! We are disgusted that the program has chosen to promote itself by butchering a classic car, and call on Southern Cross Televison, Network Ten and the producers of Big Brother to remove the kombi from the show and ensure that it is restored to original condition. Such torture and cruelty cannot be tolerated! We will refuse to watch any programs on Network Ten (including, gasp, The Simpsons) until the brutality ends.
Stop the cruelty! Make your protest known and get a "Save the Kombi" tee shirt at redbubble.com/people/kombination. (I found these yesterday and couldn't resist, had to buy one! Hilarious! )

Re: Official Hexus ANTI-Big Brother thread
I'm afraid I don't get Clunk's post at all...
So BB is round AGAIN? When will they ever learn? They try and make it 'interesting' by getting a freakshow set, which in turn makes the viewers themselves switch it off. For the record, I never have, and never will watch this visual murder.

How are you gonna know who to boycott without watching it?
-
Re: Official Hexus ANTI-Big Brother thread
Look on Hexus?
I'm sure someone will post a list up, at some point.
In fact, why not just stay with Hexus? browsing the forums will be a lot more fun, and informative.
I still want the several hours of my life I sacrificed to a previous series back.

Re: Official Hexus ANTI-Big Brother thread
This is almost as bad as Nintendo milking the Mario Franchise....
I cant stand big brother, its like people have nothing better to do than....watch other people doing the most mundane stuff. Well done on working out what entertains us big TV bosses.
-
Re: Official Hexus ANTI-Big Brother thread
What utter tripe! I have to agree with Howard, even if it does make me sound like a grumpy old man - which I'm not! (though I did love that series!)
-
Re: Official Hexus ANTI-Big Brother thread
Hup-A-De-Hup

Is that the one where the geordie bird and the gang renovate an old house to make it into an old people's home. What was her name Shazz? Oz?
My other half asked me to put on Big Mutha, and I thought "yeah, cool, big chicks, gotta love em". When I turned on the TV I realised my other half had a cold. Lemsip!!!

Re: Official Hexus ANTI-Big Brother thread
I watched it last night for 10 minutes. The gay guy came in and i cracked up. I have nothing against gay people but he is over the top as usual. GET OF THE ***** AIR!

Re: Official Hexus ANTI-Big Brother thread
You realise, by talking about your bad feelings about BB, you're actually just encouraging the program makers, they WANT it to be completely OTT soap opera crazy.
Best bet is to pity the poor sods who waste their money "voting" people off in rigged contests...

Easy solution - trip wires around the house at night while he's in bed :devilish:
Not that I would condone or suggest anyone to do that type of thing.
I couldn't care about this show anymore :)

Not very P.C. but that would be worth tuning in for. Playing tricks on him would be good - equal opportunities and all that.

That's the one, great show that passed me by in the 80's because I was a youg un then. :)
The name of Jimmy Nail was Oz yeah.
-
Re: Official Hexus ANTI-Big Brother thread
Agreed with the OP, I just don't want to hear about it. I've managed, since a dark time in my past where I might have caught a cursory glimpse at an episode in the first series, not to watch it ever. But you just can't help it. Euro '08 fever seems to be picking up too, even though we aren't in it - there's another blight of seemingly inescapable utter boredom.
-
Re: Official Hexus ANTI-Big Brother thread
at least there's a possible 3 series of topgear to look forward to, the american version might be a bit stale.. but the OZ version is supposed to be hilarious... they get to watch our versions - why wouldn't we get to watch theirs?
heard they might wait till end of olympics before showing.. to save interupting the series..
the Stig has got a new friend aswell...
not watching BB - if i wanted to sit and watch to a bunch of idiots lazing around talking 'bull poop' then i'd go downstairs and talk to my family... (or read hexus)
-

Re: Official Hexus ANTI-Big Brother thread
any reason i'm the second highest poster in this thread with 4 posts?
is it because i've been quietly spamming for a month and no-ones noticed? i think i've done 200posts.. can't be sure..
is it because of my cunning plan to spam this alot then the mods will lock it and we'll be rid of it for all of time? (feisty got moved to banter: mwahahaha, my plan worked!, then it came back again.. awww..)
note: i do not condone spamming, it's a dirty habbit.. although i have been wanting to use this picture for a while..

so quit bumping it!! and no spam geddit?
