Re: Parking across peoples driveways rant

Someone blocked half of my driveway on saturday, it's not difficult to spot, it has two cars on it.... so I just sat in my car with my hand on the horn until they came out and moved it.

Tbh, i probably could have SQUEEZED out, but there were cars parked on the other side of the road and the other side of the drive, so i'd probably have ended up scraping my car and a couple of others in the process (my road is 1 car width with cars parked on each side)

Re: Parking across peoples driveways rant

I work in a town. My office in the town has a forecourt and a rear car park.

I quite often work weekends and find myself blocked in the rear car park by some moron who thinks, because it is a weekend and no one works on weekends, the forecourt is a free parking zone and the driveway leading to the back of the office is not in use. They of course park across the driveway.

My first weapon against these morons was ringing the Police station (desk number, not 999) and advising them of my problem. Before hanging up I used to casually mention that I will be pushing the offending car out of the way with my car in 30 minutes - that worked for a while until I got bored of being kind.

My latest weapon is brown parcel tape and VERY LARGE FONT

I also note down their number plates. One day I'll be clever enough to trace these to their houses. When that day comes I will be parking my car on their driveway during the week.

Re: Parking across peoples driveways rant

I photograph the car in place showing the plates and mail it to the police. They send a ticket in the post. I sometimes put a note saying what I have done, and why, but tbh I don't need the hassle of an argument in Flemish, so sometimes don't bother.

The other thing is that wood pigeons nest in the trees outside my gate and they are buggers for ploppage, so the perpetrators often find their windscreen covered in white poo. I have, once, improved the poo with a sample from my dog, but that was the second morning in a row I was stuck unable to move for 45 minutes.

Re: Parking across peoples driveways rant

I just remembered something that we used to do in Brighton. I lived in a square with very limited parking and sometimes we would get a clown parking parallel to our cars so we were blocked in. The residents committee printed a load of sticky labels that you could put on their windscreen explaining the error of their ways. They were very, very sticky labels and took a lot of getting off and we used to put them right in front of the driver's face. They were very effective, but you may not want to piss the neighbours off that much.

Try getting brown parcel tape off - it leaves lovely long stringy bits of tape/glue.

Good point. That should work pretty well.

Re: Parking across peoples driveways rant

I've had someone towed before now for blocking my drive. It was very amusing when he came out of his house with the car on the back of the truck ranting and raving.
