    I'm back

Went sailing last week on an RYA Dayskipper's course to learn how to skipper a yacht - hence I haven't been around for the last week.

Well anyway - I passed (although it was close).

So if anyone wants a skipper for their newly acquired 50ft yacht in the Med then PM me - tell you what; I won't even charge you as long as you pay for flights

    Anyone??

Good for you. I depart on my Competent Crew course on Sunday. So David, when do you buy the Hexus.net Yacht?

    Good luck!

Comp crew should be fairly easy - there were three comp crew students on our boat. How long does your course last? Are you doing it on the South Coast?

I'm going for a week from Falmouth in Cornwall. I expect it to be very easy, it is, after all a holiday, and I need to relax! SO what was the course like? I know there's a shore-based part and some afloat. Where did you sail from and which training school did you use?

http://www.rya.org.uk/training/cours...urseId=1032153 is the comp crew - I've got a log book with the full syllabus in the car which I'll go and get later. Basically you'll be learning knots, how to sail a boat, how to adjust the sails to make the boat go.

The dayskipper course is the next step up; there is a shorebased and practical version, but I decided to go straight for the practical straight away (I've done a couple of cross channel races, and a couple of weeks on the south coast).

Basically it makes sure you can skipper a yacht in the daytime.

I sailed from Gosport - I'm in the forces so I can get on courses with the Joint Services Sail Training Centre.
