    Holiday Tips :)

Right, I have been fairly quiet recently as I am on my Hols in sunny greece, the missus is having a siesta hence I snuck into the hotel internet cafe

As I am in Zakynthos which is blisteringly hot I thought I would start a thread on how to survive the holiday heat.

    To start:

If you have the facility to hire a fridge then make sure you do, Its cost us 50 euros to hire one for two weeks and the money you spend on hiring it is money saved on going to tavernas for lunch.

Following on, put your water bottles in the ice box (pour out a little first for the expansion), then when you go to the beach take out the frozen bottle, wrap in in a plastic bag and take it with you, this means that in an hour or so when you need a drink your water is still cold and refreshing.

    Your turn

If going to a hot place ...

    1) Take lots of sun cream
    2) make sure your hotel has Air Conditioning. A must for me as I can't sleep when its so how, the gentle whirr of an air con can be quite lulling!

    1) Dont go to a hot place in the first place
    2) Wear Arab robes. It makes a big difference I know somone who lives in Pakistan, where temperatures can get as high as 54 dec celsius, and he says you couldnt survive without wearing the correct robes etc (thats not just because of the heat either )

I cant stand the heat. I remember being in Tour once (which isnt generally so hot) and I couldnt sleep at all for the heat and moving around during the day was a struggle .

Well ... I've not long got back from Turkey (Alanya). I was there for 1 week with the temp a steady 40 - 42 degrees in the mid-day sun, and about 29 in the shade. Even for the locals it was tooo hot, they were telling us that the weather had come over from Africa or something.

Basically I didnt dare going into the sun unless it was gonna be by a pool or the sea, other wise I was gonna be cooked. Even in the shade I found myself getting so hot id have to jump in the pool.

Luckily we had great Air-con in our room, so at least we could sleep at night and escape the heat in the day if we needed a siesta.

Bl00dy great holiday though - full of the most beautiful swedish and Danish girls also on holiday. So, if your a single bloke thats looking for a cheap but nice place to go for a week or two - Alanya gets my vote.

    Regards

Another tip, If you have a ceiling fan in your room do not get changed underneath it, folks putting your hand into a 4ft fan at around 1200rpm is not fun.

Ohhhh.. I haven't been to see my family for a few years, but I'm guessing it's still there. On the main road down to the beach, as you walk down it (towards the sea), on the left there is (or was..) a BLOODY GREAT taverna called "Trenta Nova", or something similar. Do some seriously good food.

    I'm off for the weekend, (. )( .)
