More people (read: morons) taking advantage of IE vulnerabilities

It seems that the suspect pop-ups are delivered on certain websites that run ads from third-party ad servers, which appear to have been hacked. When the pop-ups appear, vulnerable versions of Internet Explorer begin downloading a malicious file that records activity - such as passwords - onto the infected PC and sends that data to a server reportedly located in Estonia.

Cue replies with "*strokes Firefox*" etc.

Just read this and got a call so I did not get the chance to postit, its getting boring now, it astounds me that they know the server is in Estonia and they are not doing anything about the server as this would instantly resolve the problem!!!!!

we've noticed that some of out remote control softwate is causing a popup or two ( on a clean and patched machine as well ) I'm guessing our hosts for the app are having "issues"

Bit harsh to call IE users morons - they don't know any better and most likely like to stick to what they know
I use firefox but I still PREFER IE - that is until firefox reaches 1.0

I wonder *light buld appears above daves head* if someone had loads of dosh and i mean LOADS, wether they could take on Microsoft and sue them for negligence and damages of losing money via a hacked bank account... Now that would be something.
As IE is a product after all, and it has to follow all that stuff about doing what is says it is mean to do, and if not they are liable.. LOL that would just be the iceing on the cake after all that monopoly stuff

....and there is now speculation that the company has decided to rebuild Internet Explorer from the ground up in order to ensure that the software is air-tight.

This would be one of the best ideas MS have had for years. If they were do to do this they would probably need to rename it. I dont think many people out there would trust the name IE again.

And may be then they could introduce tabbed browsing, I never understood why ms didn't just realese a patch to add tabbed surfing to ie, i mean eveyone wants it...
You'd think with microsofts past history of "oh thats a good idea, i think i'll do that too" attitude, in order to dominate the market, they'd of introduced tabbed browsing long ago. But instead there were happy to lag behind in the broswer field, strange that.

want a dirty secret? type "about:mozilla" in internet explorer. note the change in url, and the fact that it loads something, versus about:bananas doing nothing.
