Would my house insurance company laugh at me ?

Ok well I am a bit embarassed about this.
Bought a second hand PC from a m8 for my son to use. quite a low spec system cos he is only 2 and it is for him to use a 'baby keyboard'.
Anyway - I started to carry it up the stairs and tripped over the bar at the base of the baby gate and automatically grabbed for the bannister. PC proceeded to fall from my hands, hit the stairs and drop the five steps from where it hit to the bottom.
Well after this the PC refuses to boot, PSU powers up but nothing else.
    So if I claim .....
Basically the policy is new for old with a £60 excess and an NCB so if I do claim then I will be losing about £100 and with what I paid for the PC (£100) then I will be £200 down

Back to the main question - If I phone my house insurance company (Norwich Union) will they just laugh at me and claim I am trying it on ?

And if they honour the claim does anyone know how it will go about ? i.e. will I post the dead PC to them or do they arrange collection or will it all be done at a local PC shop ?
    Ta,

    Mars

If your household policy covers your PC for accidental damage I dont see how they can refuse your claim, however bizarre it may sound.

Norwich Union sent a private detective after me for a car claim for 6!!! months once. They eventually paid up but gave £300 for a car valued at £1000
They are dodgy gits tbh and if they can get out og paying they WILL

not worth your loss and the increase in insurance next year as a result of your claim.

I would cut your losses on this one, you won't get anydifferent, when they mean new for old, if the new is no longer available then you may find they just offer you the money instead, you would be even worse off that cutting your losses!

Providing you have accidental cover then they should let you claim.

If its for a 2 year old... I would just set the computer up at a desk as normal, and let him use it as all 2 year olds would, MASH the keys !!!
Maybe even disconnect the CPU fan cable for some entertaining beeps ?

LMAO - can't beleive nobody else commented on this, nice one fella

re: dropping PCs, my bro in law dropped an old laptop down the stairs about 2 years ago (genuine accident btw). the one dropped was ancient & quite frankly rubbish, the one it was replaced with was pretty decent - at least entry level at the time.

i don't know what insurance company he was with tho, but afaik they're all much of a muchness, if they can get away without paying, they will!
if it ain't broke...fix it till it is

    Surprised you remembered Skii

Yeah, I accidentally spilt coke all over my PC.

They paid out for new everything, inc stuff that was fine and I bought back the old PC for 50quid (salvage fee).
