Have a read on patient.co.uk - it's a great resource

Want to quit?
Go get some free advice from the NHS, they will help you find something that is likely to work for you and support you through it. Ultimately something like Champrix might be right for you.
Don't want to quit, but want to placate yourself? Post on an internet forum instead :D
Re: stopping smoking with e-cig?
I've never understood this 'Give up by taking more of the stuff you're addicted to' mentality. If you want to give up, and you have to want to, just stop. The physical withdrawal symptoms only last about 3 days. Needless to say, I haven't given up.
But I would recommend reading Allen Carr's book. Its very effective, as long as you read it all in one go...

Wouldn't smoking e be a worse health hazard than smoking tobacco??

In the sense that you're smoking unknowns which might be harmful, vs smoking knowns that we know are harmful?

Whilst physical withdrawal is reasonably short, the mental and social aspects can drag on a while.....
Although with the recent smoking ban, even that should be somewhat marginalised now.

E is not meant to be smoked though!! Why doesn't the OP use an electronic cigarette instead??

I think he may be referring to the illegal substance commonly known as "E". ;)

I see. A play on one of the slang forms of address of the drug ecstacy. How droll.

Because cancer and emphezema are somewhat less desirable than a mild adiction to nicotene? ;)
I have to consider I have occasionally considered taking up patches/e-cigs as a way to get my nicobuzz, rather than my current one roll-up every 6 - 12 months...
EDIT: and I should also point out that managed replacement prescribing is pretty much the default medical approach to dealing with any physical chemical addiction...

This is why the internet fails. It cannot convey British dry humour. Need a poker face smiley or something.
