    Mums 50th Bday present

    Hi all,

I'm after some ideas as to something I can buy my Mum for her 50th Bday. I'd like to get her something special, that she can either physically keep, or mentally remember... something different maybe?

Her birthday is early August and want to get everythng planned early(ish).

    Has anyone got any suggestions?

    Many thanks,
    Nick

    Hi!

Well it depends what kind of things she likes really, but how about a weekend away if you can stretch to it? Or a day out where she can pamper herself?
You have all the normal stuff like jewellery, perfume etc but like you say you want to make it special.

Not really sure if that is of any help, but hey I tried!

Yeh you can buy those spa breaks in a package from places like Boots or Debenhams. Spa day definately a winner with mums!

Ear rings or Bracelets.....you gotta be brave but it pays off...

I got my Mum some ear rings with Amber Droplets .....a tiny little tear drop piece of Amber on each one.

She had never had amber...I spotted them by luck..she now has other amber things too.

If you look through her jewelry box, and get a "feel" for it....silver or gold...dangly or short, do things hang or are they rigid....bracelets.....are they chain or are they bangles that hand.....

get a feel for big stones, little stones or none at all.

    Plain or complex.

Watch what she wears on a daily basis...the trouble with Mum's is that you take them for granted....and of you DONT take her for granted you'll see things.

Then...get brave.....go to a jewelry shop, with £50 and spend it on one thing that YOU LIKE and that reminds you of your Mum.

I promise.....she is your Mum..she'll love it BECAUSE you chose it, and not becuase of what it looks like.

Good luck...be brave.....I PROMISE that you wont fail her.

    She will be made up.

Ear rings and bracelets are best....and get a nice box, ask them to wrap it for you too.....

Its my mum's 50th at the end of september too, and i'm thinking either a spa weekend/day or just a general pampering day like a massage and her hair and her nails etc. She'd love it cos she's always going on about how she never has the time/money to do any of them so i'll treat her

She's not having a big party either, she says she doesnt want the world to know she's 50, and also, she hasnt got that many friends to invite (no she's not a loner either, just keeps herself to herself). So it'll be a nice alternative

I'm leaning towards getting a 'pampered day', health farm type present... I dont think shes ever been on one before, and I've bought her nice jewelery a few times before!

This weekend I'm gonna see how much Boots do them for, and then redletter.com. Any other suggestions as to where to get these days from?

I have been to the Boots spa before, I'd say the prices were pretty good but I also loved the way the place was laid out. I think several department stores have their own spas. I know the Debenhams here have a Clinique (or Clarins?) Spa.

Clarins, ooo, he mrs loves that. What about a hot air baloon ride. Did that for my folks on their last wedding anniversary. Book tickets for a big show & a hotel for the night?

I bought my mum a silver necklace. It was like five chains that was plaited together..it was lovely and she really liked it. Good luck mate, I'm sure you'll find something perfect.
