    Wasps Nest

    Ever had 1?

We've got one at the bottom of the garden...

Couple of weeks back we noticed that the bird house hanging from the tree had loads of wasps inside..... on further inspection we realised there was a wasps nest inside...

So my dad and brother blasted it with the hose pipe...

The wasps then moved on to making a nest onto the arch way at the bottom of the garden.... so i've been watching it for a few days....

Today... i cut the grass and as soon as i went near it with the noisy petrol lawnmower all the wasps came out. So after i had finished cutting the grass i decided im gonna sort these little sods out. The nest was positioned in a way that I could blast it with the hose pipe and it would all peal away off the wooden post of the archway. So i put the hose on full pressure and fired it!!! the nest is now on the floor and all the wasps are going crazy... So i ran indoors.

Are these little sods likely to keep making a nest each time we break em? Whats your story?

We had a very large underground wasp nest in our garden when I was younger, (the type with only a little hole on the soil - lots off the evil little buggers flying in and out)

My brother had been to France on an exchange trip and bought me back a packet of Bangers , god they were powerful, and small enough to pop down said hole !

So - I took one and wrapped it in about 10 layers of insulation tape, and delivered it accordingly...

Needless to say the remaining wasps in the foot wide crater moved on fairly sharpish

either set fire to their nest... with them in it OR get insect spray (and lots of it) OR just call out pest control

    *jumps up and down*

    THAT WAS MEEE!!!

But bees and wasps are very different creatures. My bees were just resting and they moved on with their quest to find the holy nesting place (thankfully not anywhere near our garden).

    Wasps are just annoying

That's the cheapest way of getting more bang for your buck, I used to do it with the finger sized bangers here around nov 5th, bit of masking tape, and a *bang* goes to a nice *BOOM!*

We had one on the corner of our house.

The way we removed it involved me getting into one of my dads old boiler suits, with scalf and all incase they got brassed off, and getting some of that foam wasp killer stuff, standing in a step ladder and sparying half a can into the nest. Then, as XTR said, ran inside as i knew they'd be a bit cheesed off with me.
