    VERY early start tomorrow!

Yep, I've gotta get up at around 4am!

The reason? I'm off here ,a celeb golf tourny !

I donated a prize for the auction in the evening, so I get to play a round of glolf with the some celebs and pros.

It should be a very fun day, especially as I've managed to sprain my thumb today playing football... so at least I'll have a genuine excuse for being rubbish!

(Actually, I am rubbish anyway, but a smokescreen always helps!)

Probably wont be home until the early hours of Tuesday and then I have work in the morning!

Ah... the lifestyle of the poor and non-descript!

    Good luck, chap :>

I once had to watch a whole day of golf. I was doing work experience for the Manchester Evening News sports section, and had to go to watch the Qualifier things for the Scottish open at Stockport.

Never again, I'm happy to say! Have fun!

Well, that was certainly an experience!

Dennis Waterman was supposed to be playing but he didn't show, so I was pulled from my team and stuck in another with no celebs. The closest I got to anyone of note was at the bar where they were surrounded by people.

Jimmy Tarbuck was a nice chap though, gave me a lift in his buggy when I lost my ball and had to return to the tee to re-take my shot.

I had a few good holes, a couple of ok holes, a lot of mediocre ones and acouple of absolute stinkers. Seeing as its a championship course and I've not been playing long I was fairly chuffed with my overall performance. We had a guy playing off of a 1 handicap on our team, so it was depressing to see him drive the ball 275 minimum everytime and I was struggling to get 200 yards and keep it straight.

I did have one shining moment though, can't remember what hole it was but it was a 175 yard par 3. I knocked it beautifully onto the green from the tee, then holed in my first putt! My handicap was giving me two strokes a hole, so I came in 3 under for the hole! (not possible, I know, but it counts on Stableford scoring).

I ended the day scoring 34 (again, my handicap helped loads there) but our team didn't win as we either all played a hole well or all played a hole badly...

The evening meal was fun, the auction raising loads of money for the Variety Club. My gift sold for £700, which I was well pleased with.

A good day in all, I played on a championship course, a bloody hard one too, and came away having not embarassed myself or my team. We raised loads of money for charity and had a good time too.

The only dissappointment was that none of the celebs were available to sign autographs or pose for photos, I heard a few grumbles from some of the others about this, but hey, you can't have everything. I was just glad to get round without looking like a berk!
