    April 1st Jokes are starting

    This time every year the internet games and tech sites find elaborate ways to fool everyone. Found 2 decent ones so far. First is from Gamespy with Commander Shepards Birth Certificate, anyone that knows ME universe knows that during character creation you create your own background. Its quite an amusing read :

    http://uk.pc.gamespy.com/pc/mass-eff...1222085p1.html

    Next one which had me in stitches. Google Maps for 8Bit Nintendo :

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rznYifPHxDg

    If you actually go to Google Maps in the top right of the Map there is a box called quest, if you click it you actually get an 8 Bit version of the map, looks like something from FF or Zelda!

    I enjoyed making the dead pixel trick. The article still works and has dead pixels on it, although the "test" page with the simple background doesn't any more since the new site launch. I should probably put it back.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Re: April 1st Jokes are starting

    There was a time when April fool's jokes were genuinely clever and funny once you discovered them, but either we have gotten better at discovering them or people are just making them to be obvious parodies on the theme. Videos like the YouTube collection on DVD are obviously fake and while they are funny I can't believe anybody would be fooled by them.

    I long for the day when I innocently click on a link and see something so awesome or amazingly believable that I completely miss how it could be a prank and get drawn in so completely that the joke is only funny after the discovery instead of being spoon fed the punchline, most of the gags we see these days couldn't even be made more obvious with a heading stating that they are April fool's gags.

    Hopefully next year someone will manage that, or someone will find it and post it on these pages in a topic or news article that's not already shouting about it being an April's fool joke.

    ....
    That, really.

    April fool's "jokes" are (IMHO, of course) about 99.9% tedium and about 0.1% inspiration, these days. Or maybe I'm just too cynical? After all, I only believe about 10% of what I read on the net (or in papers) during the other 364.25 days of the average year.

    Most "fools" leave me thinking "ho hum, can I have my 10 seconds back, please".

    "I'm in ur AdBlock, Maekin it CatBlock" Seems to be pulling in people who jibbed at donating for AdBlock - so maybe a smart move for the makers, kitty power and all that.
