    New Forum - your thoughts

    Guys/gals,

We are working on things as we speak - as you can see it's back but not setup 100% for HEXUS look and feel.

We didn't want you guys missing the site too much so turned it on earlier to allow you to get on the site sooner.

Let us know your ideas there is a load of things we are doing so we hope that most of which we hope will be fixed before the morning...

Honestly? Not liking VB4. Not yet seen a forum that's swapped to it that I've liked

It's not "that" bad, tbh once the hexus theme gets applied it should look alot better

What benefits does it bring to the table? Like the new quick reply window anyway...

Looks a bit bland at the moment...

"New posts" isn't working, just a 500 Internal Server Error

I assume we're getting the hexus hardlines column back ?

Yes what are the changes other than theme and the quick reply box? Once it's hexus-ed up it'll be fine I reckon

Re: New Forum - your thoughts

Surprising, but I'm sure that when the HEXUS look is applied once more, it is bound to be just as good as before.

The only thing that I don't like at the moment is that the "New Posts" link keeps throwing up a blank page (as that is how I usually tend to discover the latest posts), but I'm guessing that is one of the things that are going to be fixed as things get implemented properly.

Re: New Forum - your thoughts

Bits and bobs of the theme seem to be changing by the minute, so it probably won't look right until tomorrow,
at the moment I'm getting huge 1/2 screen orange blocks when hovering over any of the 2nd row of buttons in chrome.

Getting lots of Bad Gateway errors and stuff here on Chrome. Looks a bit of a mess at the moment but will reserve judgement..

As long as the eyecandy don't break functionality I'll be happy. Seen forum packages that look nice but breakthe basics like search and indexing, or have crappy quote systems or the likes.

Re: New Forum - your thoughts

My first thought when I clicked it was "Oh god", but that quickly subsided. Looks alright, fits in with the whole new hexus theme...

As always though, the best improvements are the ones you don't notice...

Default fonts, sizes and general legibility. I find it more difficult to read than V3. I know all things evolve and change but this is one which I just don't 'feel' comfortable with.

I know what you mean. There's another forum I use that updated to VB4 and I thought they'd gone to phpbb or whatever it's called, the VB guys definitely took a step backwards in the UI department.

Having said that, the HEXUSification of it is very nice, blends in really well with the new site.

Re: New Forum - your thoughts

Well my initial impressions is that it is too white and clean - feels like we need to dirty this place up a bit - a few more shades off off white or grey would help break things up a bit!

Oh and the default VB4 font does irritate, can we change that too?
