    Power Laptop From Car

OK So i have a small Query,

I have a laptop, from which i will be using Autoroute to navigate my way 600 miles through France in a few days Time. Obviously i will have paper map books etc and route print outs, but using autoroute is much easier.

Only problem i have is battery life. My battery wont last the length of time i will be driving for. I beleive you can either get Car Adapters for laptops or an invertor so i can plug a normal plug into the cigarette lighter.

Does anyone know where or how i can do this? I work in central london and ideally need to be able to go to a shop and buy one at lunchtime.........suggestions will be greatly rewarded with rep points if it proves to be usefull.

    Cheers

Targus do auto/air adapter packs for common brands of lappy, so you might want to start there; Lind (no, not the chocolate people, silly) do also. As to buying one at lunchtime, I'm not sure about resellers and I'm limited as to what sites I can get to because our ISPs DNS servers are unavailable at the mo'.

    edit: Targus Lind

Also see Lind's European distributor PSA Parts

And here you'll find a list of Targus's resellers

More edit: Belkin adapter at Office World

I use a cheap arse invertor from Maplins, they allways have them on offer.
search for N64AU on maplins site.
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/

Very handy as you can run different stuff from it upto its recommended wattage, takes 12v and output 240v AC. My one is a 150w model and cost £20 on special offer.
Now my dad on the other hand runs a 1000w invertor in his landrover for powering portable electrical appliances, also has 2 batterys on a split charging system to run it and his winch

I bought my invertor (along with some other bits and bobs) from this online distributor:
