    Getting rid of traffic lights

    Interesting simulation to show an automated system where cars reserve a time to pass through an intersection as they approach it and are then sped up or slowed down to ensure their arrival at exactly the right time.

    Uses a Java applet so if you haven't got Java installed then you'll need a download

    Neat.

    Suppose (if) when they have computer controlled cars it something that might be used.

    Dunno what would happen to pedestrians tho, theres no time for them to cross...

    I believe there are still no traffic lights in the entire county of Powys, can anyone confirm or deny this? I couldn't find any last time I looked up there!

    I have to say that's pretty cool, but I can't see it working for a long time...
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Heh, every driver would have to drive like those motorcycle display teams where they do similar crossings with mind-bogglingly small gaps. Whilst not really applicable to motor vehicles, the reservation queueing system is used extensively in railway timetabling, which is why trains being delayed often leads to further delay as we're running at capacity on many lines.
