Virgin Media retentions team?

Has anyone had any dealings with them?

A friend has given me his friend & family discount voucher for half price sky. It works out at £46 a month for their Sky+ HD box, Entertainment+ HD (all standard channels & HD) and their 40mb fibre optic broadband. Then £120 quidco.

Virgins ''best retention offer'' is basically the same channels & HD on TIVO, 30mb Fibre optic, then second Virgin box for £48.

The toss up is really TIVO vs £120 quidco with Sky.

Now;

Virgins best offer is basically what new customers get over 12months instead of 18months, nothing ground breaking seeing as I have been with them for 2 years on a mid level package. If I call up, reject their offer and leave it will they call me back with a better offer?

I only ask because T-mobile did this for me and I was wondering if Virgin Media would do the same? Has anyone had any dealings with Virgin media retentions?

They literally did the same when I called up for my mother as she had the 20mb broadband, full phone and TV and they were charging near enough £110 a month for the privilege. Called their team to ask if they could do any better on the offer as a friend of mine got the same offer for half the price, all you get is "this is new customers only" however after 2 years my mates package is still at around £55ish

Good luck with their retentions team, let me know how you get on, I use them for net and phone only as I barely watch TV and if I do it's generally Netflix, Lovefilm and the off freeview channel so not had much to do with their TV packages.

Typical attitude of Sky as well. If you don't like it leave. They might give you a minimal discount which is a slap in the face in comparison to what the new customers get. Poor loyalty shown to those customers who pay the most and provide guarenteed income

Have to disagree with you on Sky csgohan4, I was on the phone to them not long ago and managed to get them to sort me a new Sky HD + box (will be the second multiroom box in our house) installed this weekend for £5, that is after them quoting me £299 for a new box and £60 to install it.

Your case is different in a way. Your adding more to your package and therefore more for their coffers. They also offered me 5 pound off the HD package, if you call that a discount. I am more referring to customer retention as is the OP

Almost, more specifically trying to get a cheaper deal for the same package on renewal. Whereas Barry is not paying less before contact with retentions, rather more so with an addedd package.

Compared to new customers they will ultimately pay alot less than current customers on the same package. Sky will undoubtly offer you better deals to ADD packages such as half price Sky sports for X months or a free Sky HD Box, which don't result in a cheaper package, probably more since your new customers deals are coming to an end when you joined so your going to be paying full price for them now.

I have gone for;

£44.40
Large TV with standard V+ HD box (no recording)
Medium phone
Large Internet (10mb)

to:

£39.90
Large TV with TIVO 500gb
Large Internet - 30mb
Medium phone

So a £4 saving, TIVO and better internet for no more money. I am happy with that, all in 12 month contract.

I'm on XL TV + Phone with 60MB Broadband, a V+ box and a second standard HD box for upstairs... £40 a month.

If you know anyone who works at Virgin Media, they just need your telephone and email address and you can get a good value package.

Yeah apparently there were good deals via mates rates but its changed recently, my friend kept saying he would get me it (he even offered/told me about it!) but always seems busy or waiting for their reply to sort me out, seems its like a £5 discount now?. Its a shame hes so slow or else i would have had a better deal

Tivo box is probably more worthwhile than the £120 cashback, in that you'll use it and appreciate it, whilst the money will likely get frittered away little by little.
