Yet another postage/customs related question

There've been loads of these i know but i don't remember reading one that covers these questions.

1. do the usps charge a small fee on delivery like ups etc. do on international orders?

2. How long do customs take to process a parcel? as mine went into customs on the 6th and it'd be nice if i got my t-shirts n stuff before thursday as i'm off out on the pull

USPS is handled by parcelforce when it reaches this country. Instead of delivering your package, they will send you a letter informing you of the customs charges, and they will charge you an additional £10 for the privilege. You have to phone them to ask them to deliver, and they will pressure you to pay by card instead of COD. They are also likely to be confused over GBP and USD when calculating the customs charge due, and since you don't get to see the dispatch note when they send the letter, theres not much you can do about it.

in addition, it will take much longer for a USPS to arrive to you once its in the country compared to say a UPS or FedEx shipment. The reason forthis is the charge for customs is paid by FedEx/UPS and then they claim it back off you, hence you get yourpackage quickly. With Parcelfarce/USPS they don;t do this and because parcelfarce is horrifically disorganised they take about 6 days to clear it usually.

Well they arrived this morning and i got charged £46 Surely that can't be right for £70 worth of clothes!

I make that £17.50 or less, give or take the £10 admin fee, I think you got ripped.

Bugger me, I ordered a few bits from www.mlb.com (Jumper, T-shirt and baseball cap) and got $51 delivery with fedex.

£50 seems a hell of a lot

i wana order some stuff, but the customs charges suck, if it was 22.5% i might go for it, seems everyone i know also got overcharged too

if you can keep the cost to below £18 before postage you dont get hit with tax. Last time I looked £18=$32. CAn be worth getting them to split the packages down into smaller bits.

Yeah, i'll be ordering it in smaller bits next time for sure, proper annoying tbh as my stuff from t-shirt hell and wicked jester despite being over £18 never got hit with customs charges, If you wanna put a couple of things in with my next order to bring the cost down let me know man

GOOD LUCK is all I can say! I tried to call them for 4 weeks before they finally delivered my package. I also wrote about 5 emails per day whilst making calls every 5-10 minutes.

ParcelFarce are one of the most disorganised companies I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I would rather pay other companies twice as much.

Yep been there myself in the past man, If i don;t get through today i'll be taking a walk down to they're offices and if that fails I'll be talking to the nice people at the customs office.

It may also be worth sending an e-mail to the place you bought the stuff from and let them know what's going on. You might encorage them to offer an alternative shipping method for international orders.

If you order from the US, current FedEx rates are 22.5% and they don't ask for them before you get your goods, you will get your goods and then they send you a letter, but you can always call FedEx once you got it and they will tell you how much it is before the letter arrives.
