    What do I do?

I sold my RC car on eBay nearly 3 months ago now. The buyer sent me the cheque, which I cashed with no problems at all. The trouble is he never sent me his address.

I have email him countless times asking for his address and I have not had a single reply. I have also asked eBay for his address from their account records but he does not have one on there either.

You would think that if you hand paid nearly £200 for something you would not just forget about, would you?

    Am stuck for ideas now.

Forget it, if he wants the car then he'll contact you. Just put the car in the loft and leave it.

goto your bank and find out, or cancel the cheque. You cant take the money cause its just wrong. He may have made the effort to contact you but was unable for some unknown reason.

I can not cancel the cheque because I cashed it nearly 3 months ago now.

Never thought of going through the bank, will try that on monday.

On the contrary, I would take the money.

There was an agreement to buy/sell an item. That is a contract. The car is sold. Trash Man has the money. I would make all reasonable efforts to contact the buyer to see how he is going to arrange to either have his car sent to him, or to collect his car - whatever was agreeed in the sale.

The sale has taken place. The car now belongs to the buyer, and the money to Trash Man. Eventually, if no contact was forthcoming, I would send mail to the email address used for the deal, and warn him that unless the goods are collected within a specified period, say two weeks, I will otherwise dispose of them as I am not prepared to store his goods for him indefinitely. IF THAT doesn't gee him into action, well, it's his loss. If he hadn't contacted me within six months, and I'd done everything I could to contact him, well ....... his lookout.

Was it a hotmail account he has? If so he may have whacked his junkmail filter up to the max so he would never receive any e-mails u send him!

has he made any recent e-bay transations ? i'm with Saracen with this, you've made a more than reasonable attempt to contact him, you can't be expected to hold onto the car for ever. send him an e-mail telling him that you'll resell it in a couple of weeks if he doesn't make contact, and do just that. if he ever does show up and you're feeling generous you can always send him a cheque for the same amount he paid.

Im not saying cancel the chq now that would be stupid i would make the best efforts to contact him then do it if i still cant. Does it cost money to cancel chqs that have already been cashed? If it does then i probably wouldnt bother.

    Cheers for the help guys.

I'll check is eBay account to see if he has any other transactions on it.

And it is a NTL email address that we had been using (I had received emails from him before he sent the money without any problems) Even if his email account had been changed he would still be able to get my email address from eBay.

As for giving him the money back, if he can't get into contact with me to give an address to send the car to, how is he gonna ask for the money back.

Checked on eBay and he has bought one other item on eBay since buying my car.

Have sent an email to the other person he delt with to see if they either still have his address or even if they have had any contact with him.

I'll give the bank a try tomorrow but I can't see them telling me anything really, as creature said.
