Both are very good, but Miele cost more and the accessories are expensive.

Another thing about the Miele vacuum cleaners is that they have a very good filtration system, and the bags are an integral part of this.
Miele bags are very small ! Henry bags are 9 litres each, much better and less time faffinf about changing the bag, a Henry will last years !
and it will always have a smile on it's face no matter what you give it to eat/snort

I know there is a lot to be said for Miele, but I do really like my Henry. It's the little things sometimes. The power cable is really long, we can do our whole house (which is quite big) from just one socket in the hall. The smallest opening is right at the head, so as long as it passes that, nothing you suck up is going to get stuck anywhere else (we had a Dyson that kept getting clogged at the cylinder end). It is also very quiet, and quite a low hum which doesn't irritate as much as the Dyson did.
We need to get a turbine brush head for it, I would recommend getting either the Henry Xtra or getting the brusher head separately if you have pets or just lots of carpet.
I have not used the comparable Miele but the Henry is very highly regarded. The latest version on Amazon has a large number of favourable reviews. As Funkstar says, the Henry is pretty quiet at 600, which is a big plus for me.
Think of getting Miele had a price match.

Used to use a Henry when I was filling in for cleaners who didn't show up when I was a teenager...
I can say they take a beating, but they aren't as good at removing dirt in a cared for, loved environment as a miele or a maintained dyson even.
Also used a George too.
I would say if I was buying a vaccum cleaner for a cleaner, I'd definately go with the near industructable, high build quality and 'friendly' nature of a Henry. But never for myself, as I will always treat the machine right, and would welcome the faster cleaning ability.

Got the S5211 Miele - it's great, small, powerful and has a "silent" setting that really is quiet. You can use it late at night without disturbing someone sleeping. Yes expensive, but offering a 10 year warranty (with registration) and very well made. I wouldn't go for the base Miele - it doesn't have the accessories in the body, they clip to the hose (pain in the ass if you ask me) - the S5211 and upwards house them in a flap on the body - much better IMO.
Also owned and used Henry. They're ok, but in a flat with small storage, we wanted the Miele.
we have a henry - got it in 2005 and its been totally hammered - and is still going strong - have the `pet brush` but need to either repair it or get it replaced , and the on/off switch is broken- thing is rock solid
