I'm going to shoot my old lady*

    * not really, but I am going way down south, way down to Mexico way...

Going to Cancun for the first time next week, anyone been there? Got any tips? Any must visits/don't visits?

We're thinking of booking a trip to Chichen Itsa, and a few Mayan ruins but other than that, not got a clue...

I went to Cancun in 2008 great place
Chichen Itza is quite a drive away but worth it. Our tour guide was good fun so it made the drive seem a lot shorter.
If your into snorkeling or wildlife check out Xel Ha. The full day trip just there as its huge.
    Enjoy your trip
Any room for me in your suitcase?

Hey Joe... send us a postcard

Consider getting a mesh reinforced rucksack as bag-slashing is not unheard of in those parts. ie someone spits at you - you get distracted while someone else either tries to 1) cut your shoulder straps and takes the bag or 2) slashes the bag open and empties the bag into a holdall before they peg it. Mesh reinforced bag eg by pac-safe = a bit heavy, but prevents this. Depends how security conscious/paranoid you are. Not been there myself, just passing on advice I received from people I met who have.

Judging by the amount of clothes piled in our spare room, no!

Was your trip to Chichen Itza booked through your hotel, or from the UK? Any recommendations on that front?

We're going all inc, so hopefully won't need to carry that much stuff while we're out and about. Plus we're probably only going to do a couple of trips, it's a holiday for relaxing, mainly...
